|---|---|---|
| Summary of the purposes of the charity as set out in its governing document |
Para 1.17 | The object of the three bears foundation is: The advancement of health and the saving of lives of people with cancer in particular but not limited to people with pancreatic cancer. The above object will be achieved by such means as the Charity Trustees see fit from time to time and may include, but shall not be limited to: (i) making grants to groups or service providers working with individual families & groups living with a diagnosis of cancer. and (ii) provide grants to charities involved in cancer research. (iii) Raising awareness of the symptoms and impact of cancer. |
| Summary of the main activities in relation to those purposes for the public benefit, in particular, the activities, projects or services identified in the accounts. |
Para 1.17 and 1.19 |
During the reporting period the Three Bears Foundation was established and in its first year it undertook several fundraising events. Before the Covid-19 pandemic a face-to- face wine-tasting event was held in March 2020. However, due to the government lockdown other face-to-face events planned for the year were subsequently postponed or cancelled. During lockdown a number of virtual fund- raising events were held including: • A Charity Cooking Evening • A Quiz night • The sale of merchandise |
| Income from the above-mentioned activities and sponsorship for a future Annual Ball totalled £11,017. Costs were incurred during the period in the sum of £6,585. This included fees paid for the development of the Charity’s website, marketing, print and legal costs. Expenditure also included the procurement of merchandise for re-sale and costs incurred in relation to the fundraising events. During the period the Three Bears Foundation continued to maintain its profile, raise awareness about pancreatic cancer and plan fundraising events that could be held post-lockdown. |

Achievements and Performance
| SORP reference | ||
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | In the period ended September 2020 due to the challenge of the Covid-19 pandemic the majority of the charity’s fundraising activities had to be cancelled or postponed as businesses furloughed their staff. As a consequence significantly less funds were raised than originally planned. This frustrated our objective of providing grants to groups or service providers working with people living with a diagnosis of cancer as well as providing grants to charities involved in cancer research. Throughout the pandemic Trustees attended regular virtual business networking sessions to increase awareness of the symptoms and impact of cancer. The Three Bears Foundation is the resident Charity of four networking groups and during the period met with approximately 100-150 businesses and individuals during networking sessions. |
