– Littlehempston Community Orchard & Meadow CIO Annual Report 2023

During the course of 2023 a number of activities took place which support the charity’s aims to preserve this old orchard, provide an environment which supports a range of wildlife and to provide a space which our community can use and enjoy. We were able to run a Wassail in January, having taken a break for 2 years during the pandemic. We also ran our first community apple pressing day in September. These events generated a small amount of income over and above covering the costs incurred in putting them on.

We have established an annual maintenance programme of mowing, brushcutting and hedge work. In addition to this we did need to pay for dead trees to be felled. We also paid for earthworks to make the orchard more accessible and usable for social events.
