Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
The Charity fulfilled its purpose and objective and provided a full playgroup service through the Medium of Welsh to children of 2 and a half to 4 years in the Denbigh area. Approximately 35 children were on roll during this financial year.
The Cylch staff worked very hard during this financial year continue the recover post Covid and fundraising resumed and numbers increased from the previous year.
An Estyn inspection was carried out in April 2023, and Bodawen was given a rating of ‘good’ across all inspection areas. No issues of noncompliance were noted.
Plans were made during 23-24 with the Local Authority to commence the build of a new purpose built early years setting, would be built on the grounds of Ysgol Twm o’r Nant, our local Welsh Medium Primary School. The trustees and the committee of Cylch Meithrin Bodawen agreed that on moving to the building, Cylch Meithrin Bodawen would merge with the existing Under 4s provision on site, to form a new charity in due course. It is anticipated that the new build will be ready in the Summer of 2025.

| The committee and Trustees maximised their efforts to raise money for the Cylch, during this financial period. We continued to seek external supports such as local funds and grants. On the 15th May 2019 the Denbighshire local Authority announced that they had been successful in achieving a grant from the Welsh Government’s Pre school grant, to improve the location and physical provision of Cylch Meithrin Bodawen. The likely timescales would be 1-2 years. However the pandemic paused this work. During this financial year, further discussions have taken place to further this work and although rising costs have meant some reprofiling of the overall project. The Cylch expects to occupy this new build in the Summer of 2025. The Trustees and Committee of Cylch Meithrin Bodawen will continue to work jointly with the Local Authority over the coming financial year. The purpose built building will present increased opportunities to expand the business and increase revenue. |
