Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
South Petherton Shed has had another very successful year. Most of the members attend every week and many say what a lifeline it is for them. The variety of items made never ceases to amaze, and sales are going well. We were lucky to be invited to have a stall in a local community café for a month again this year, and this gave our funds a very welcome boost. In addition we have attended several craft fairs to sell our products. We have now reached capacity and have had to start a waiting list for new members. We don’t like to turn people away, so have been helping them to find other Sheds close enough to their homes that have got room for them. I’m pleased to say that we have a good number of skilled people who are pleased to help those that need help. This is partly as a result of the training sessions that we’ve been holding. Nearly everyone has attended a bandsaw training session and many have tried Canal Art and Folk Art. We now meet on three afternoons every week, once for cleaning and preparation, once for carving with an excellent tutor, and once for general woodwork.
