achievements
ofthe charity
Securing three grants for specific projects helped achieve the following
results:
during the year Indonesia:
on the remote island ofSelaut Besar a total of777turtle nests
were protected and 62,125hatchlings
were assisted. This consisted of
leatherback,
green and hawksbill
species but also olive ridtey turtles
visited sporadically.
A ranger team of9locals could be trained,
deployed and paid plus
transport
and camp equipment
purchased
as well as materials
for data
collection.
A hatchery was built and patrols made regularly
to deter poachers.
The success ofthis new project has resulted
in the decision for itto
continue.

by TF by our local rangers assisted by patrol dogs and drones.

such as providing
swimming
courses for children
and renovating a
school. (see Annual
Report p.20)
Fundraising
- collaborations
were explored
with various commercial
partners based
in the UK including
ethical clothing and jewellery
manufacturers,
eco-friendly
straw manufacturers
and other entities who
wanted
to contribute a share oftheir profits to helping
turtle conservation
were discussed
and several contract agreements
signed.
Itis intended
to
build on these annually.
