Objectives and Activities:
Objectives
Preserving vessels and artefacts which illustrate and explain the history and heritage of the waterways
Providing the public with access to the waterways for the purposes of education
Undertaking research into the waterways, the useful results of which will be published for the public
Main activities
Publication and maintenance of a website, including digitisation of photographs, documents and spoken word histories, and publishing of research
Attendance at events, programme of talks and presentations for community groups.
Organisation of educational workshops
Purchase of equipment to assist in public research
the public benefit under Section 4 of the Charities Act 2011
Achievements and Performance:

Continued to expand and improve the photographs available on www.ywhs.org.yuk by creating a thematic index, transcribing known information about the photographs and researching further information

Received archives of material from local historian Ron Gosney, and from the family of Brian Masterman. These collections are in the process of digitisation by society volunteers for inclusion on the website

Digitised several historical waterways related documents and books and made them available on the website

Continued to digitise and transcribe oral history cassette tapes

Given talks to 9 groups

Delivered a programme of summer workshops that provided 322 person hours of education

Attended the Yorkshire Heritage Summit at Hull Minster

Organised and enabled Robbie Cumming’s ‘Canal Boat Stories’ production to be booked at Junction Goole
