RECRUITMENT OF TRUSTEES

The current serving Trustees are elected to serve on an annual basis. A new board of Trustees is selected from volunteers whose names are put forward to the members of the club for approval to be voted in as Trustees at an Annual General Meeting (AGM). The new trustees commence their duties on the 1[st] July of that year. Any change to the trustees is

registered with the Charities Commission. The Board of Trustees is limited to between 3 and 12 members only.

The President, Secretary and Treasurer are automatically appointed Trustees after being elected to their positions at the club’s AGM.

Objectves and Actvites

Lions clubs enable service-minded people to serve their community without personal financial reward. Clubs endeavour to improve health and well-being, strengthen communities, and support those in need through humanitarian services and grants that impact lives globally, and encourage peace and international understanding.

Objectives

The Objects of the Club are such purposes as are exclusively charitable in England & Wales, including in particularthe advancement of citizenship by

The clubsnormal activities involve holding fund raising events, attending, and supporting events in the town and local area with the purpose of raising funds for the club’s ‘Charity’ account, support others within the local, national and international community and to promote the Lions ethos.

ACTIVITIES, ACHIEVEMENTS, PERORMANCE AND PUBLIC BENEFIT

In the year 1[st] July 2024 to 10[th] April 2025

The club held a successful Beer Festival in June 2024. This was our biggest fundraising event of the year.

The firework display is an event provided for the town people to allow a safe and inexpensive way to participate in the tradition and it is not seen as a profit making event. Due to lower membership numbers our Santa’s Sleigh event was completed in partnership with another local charity group.

Due to low membership available resource has been significantly reduced. Partnership working with other local charity and volunteer groups has enabled us to continue our main activities. However, a long term effect is that we have mothballed our catering unit. High insurance costs also had an impact in making this decision.

We have worked with Barton Rotary Club, Barrow Meridian Rotary Club, Ropewalk Volunteers, Friends of the Barton Line and local businesses in sharing support and staffing of events and activities.

INCOME AND EXPENDITURE – YEAR ENDING 10 thApril 2024

Barton upon Humber Lions accounts were audited on 30[th] September 2024 by Wrights, Certified Chartered Accountants and are available for viewing on the Charity Commission website.

These accounts are for the year 1[st] July 2023 to 10[th] April 2024

Barton Lions are very grateful for donations made by the Town towards our public firework display (£2K).

Wren Kitchens very generously provided sponsorship funding for our beer festival (£2K).

Our club is financially sound.
