Achievements and Performance
| SORP reference | ||
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | 1. Four editions of Goldsworth News were published during the year, in September and November 2024, and February and May 2025. Copies were delivered by volunteers to most properties in Goldsworth Park and were also available in local shops and various other buildings, as well as on our website. The range of topics covered in the magazine included:- • Views from the Chair • Reports on the activities of The Natural Goldsworth Park Project and articles about the wildlife in and around the lake • News from St Andrew’s Church by Revd Scott Smith • News and updates from other local charities such as the Lakeview Community Action Group, Goldsworth Care, Goldsworth Park Scout Group and Girlguiding • Event listings around the local area • Other local interest stories 2. We held a number of work parties through September and October 2024 and residents planted wildflower seeds across North Meadow. This was relatively successful as numerous patches of Yellow Rattle came up the following spring. 3. We held two public meetings in October 2024 and March 2025. Attendance was relatively low, but |
we are loyally supported by our local councillors and county councillors. Guest speakers featured from Zero Carbon Guildford’s Home Energy Task Force and WEAct Woking Environment Action. 4. We held community litter picks in October 2024 and March 2025 and a significant amount of rubbish was collected. We also supported a young resident in completing the volunteering component of his Gold level DofE award though regular litter picking in the community. 5. We supported the Woking Hospice’s annual Dragon Boat Race by managing an indoor tea and cakes stall. 6. We supported the St Andrew’s Church Summer Fair and the Christmas Market, as well as the Lakeview Community Fun Day. 7. We hosted community quiz nights in November 2024 and February 2025 which were well attended.

Financial Review
| Financial Review | ||
|---|---|---|
| Review of the charity’s financial position at the end of the period |
Para 1.21 | During the year to 30 June 2025 the GPCA had a deficit in income of £4,031 and this was met by its reserves. At the end of the reporting period it held unrestricted cash funds of £20,912. |
| Statement explaining the policy for holding reserves stating why they are held |
Para 1.22 | The Trustees have a policy of maintaining reserves at a level which ensures that the GPCA’s core activities can continue in the long term. The level of reserves held takes into account expected future income levels and planned activities. The GPCA will most likely be facing a shortfall in income again over the next 12 months and it is expected that a portion of the reserves will be needed to cover its core expenditure. The trustees review the level of reserves regularly and consider how these can be best utilised in order to meet the GPCA’s charitable objectives. |
