In order to achieve this objeth"ve, the Church provKJes a variety of ministries both to rts membership and to the local community. The Foottbank Hub, led by our MaTiners Comn￿nity Support Co-ordinator IMCSC), is now in its fith year.11 uses volunteer support from the Chur¢h and volunteer5 from Rowhedge and Colchester lo support the growng needs of our community. In this reporting period Mariners Chapel has partneied Colchester Youth Outreath ICYOI and, with a team of volunteers, our MCSC is ¢onts"nuing to devel¢)p support to our local piimary school. Slow cooker dub. providing food, recspes and slow cookers to families in need ol support has Continued during the yeai. GLOW- an after-school club which supports children pa￿(￿lar need%. has been onty)ing over the rep(ffts"ng period and now incorpoTates Forest GLOW in its s¢hedule. The Well, a weÈkty café, which lackles soual i501at.on by provi&"ng company and support mainly lo older adults continued to meet thring the year as the Baby and Toddler group ith support and care offered lo parents, ¢aier5 and their chldren_ These minisln.es are njn by volunteers. Mariners Chapel operates syBtem5 to eisure that al people working th thildren or adults addibonal needs are appropriately vetted via the Disdosure and Ba￿ing Service. tJJr Safegualding poli￿ is updated annually training for those working diredy with children or athlts. Marrners Chapel has both male and female in-house safeguarding onlacts and an extemal contact, the latter being the Headteacher olthe local primary school. The Twslees ol the Church have read the Charty Commtssion guidance on public benefft and are sat¢sffied that the activities oullined clearly demonstrate that the charity is pioviding a benefrt to the wblic. The life and experience of our church communty has also deeperied with real spiri￿al ￿Owth being evhdent amongst many. Financial Review The Church continues to raise funds Y￿h1n the Church and lo seek lund5 e￿ere as necessary. To Ihis end grant of£7,216 was gratefijlly received from the Essex Community Fund in February 2025. This money has helped maintain the Mariners Chapel C(xYdinator rcde. No applications underway at present. but furfher fvnding wll be sought. In the reporting year, we continue to have a General Fund wthich is an Unrestricted Fund and can be used for any unrestricted income of the Churth. The three Restricted Funds can only be used for the purposes for which Teceipts to them ale given. namely a Foodbank Fund. a Hardship Fund and a &Jilding Fund. Detarfs of the recipts and payments on each Fund and other matteTS are shown in the attached Accounts. Reserves Policy The Trustees have established a Reser¥es Policy to enable Mariners Chapel to funclion effectivety and meet its obligations in the event of a decline in our income or a major cost. Having considered the relevant risks gf Changes in in¢ome and expenditure, the Trustees have determined that the appiowiate level of unrestricted reserves is in the range of £7,500 to £30.000.
