Otherwise, members ol the Church appoini other members of the Leadership Team, each of whom who become Tnjstees upon appointment. The Leadership Team Is responsible for the day to day running of the Church's work and witness as well as IOT linancial and legal matters. ObJecdve$ and Actlvltles The principal objective of the Church is the aifvancemeni of the Christs'an fath, including education. community service and such other generai charitsble kXbfkY)ses in such parts of United Kiwdom and the world as the Church shall detemine. In order to achieve the above ol"ectwe, the Church PfOVKles a vanety ol acbvitses both to rts membership and 10 the local community. The aim Is to show the love of Jesus Chrisi in LM)Ih word and deed and to bring people Into a closer relationship with Him as livino Lord. Central to the work and witness ol Ihe Church ￿ the prOv￿lon of regular public serv￿$ of Christian Worship alongside Sunday Funday, a children's group wh￿h runs alongside Sun(iay worsh1p services. There are weekly Lifegroup meetings to ￿cOurage wopie &s ilw strengthen faith, to build community and to pray IOT and encourage one another. Our Foodbank Hub is now in its third year utilises volunteer support from the Church and volunteers ftom Rowhedge and Colchester lo support the grNing needs of our community. In this Teportino period, 326 adults and 464 children were provided with lood and hwsehold iiems including fresh vegetables arKI fruit. The Mariners Community Support COordin￿Or is now establthed In th￿r role and leads our Foodbank Hub and. using volunteer coaches, also coordinates SUPkK)rt to families both in the local school using tre Christian charty'Transforming Lives for GocKJ' model and In I￿al community to families who a￿ in need of support. Slow cooker club. providino food. recipes and slow cookeTS ￿ families in need of support has beoun during the year. A new after School club which supwns children with particular needs alongside Ihose children who are part of TLG is being piloted. The ￿11. weekly café which lack￿$ social isolation by providing company and support mainty to older adults continued to thrive during Ihe year &$ did the Baby arKJ Toddler oroup with suppon and care offered to parenrs. carers and Iheir children. These ministrEs are run by volunteers. Mariners Chapel operates Sys￿mS to ensure that all peopÈ Working with children OT adults with additional needs are appTOPTiatety vetted via the DisclosuTe and Barring SeTvice. Our Safeguarding Policy is updated annually, with updated tr￿nIng for Ihose WOTking diTecty with children or aduk5. Mariners Chapel has both male and female in-tK)use safeguarding Conts￿ts and an exle[n￿ contacL the latter being the Headteacher of the loca5 primary school. CuThent membership of the Church is 31, two kwle hawr¥J tecome members in the year and tsvo having resigned. Like many churches, the physical atterKlance at our weekty Sunday church services is less than pre-pandemic levels, however other areas of mIn￿try within ts buildiw and outreach ￿¢0 the community has gTown over the year. In the year we are reporting ￿. we conts.nue to have a G￿er￿ Fund which L$ 8n Uniestyicted FurKI and can be used for any unTeslricled Income of the Church. However. we have added 3 new Resiricled Funds from I April 2022. which can onty be used for the purposes for whth receipts to them are given, narnely a Foodbank Fund. a Hardship Fund and a Building Fund. Details ol the receipts arxl payments on each Fund and other matters aTe shown in the attachedAccounts. Our lomier part-tsme minister, Simon Heard. left us in the year and we aoain express our graiilude io him for his six years service from 2016 to Juty 2022. The net cosi ol his salary aThJ wsts and the net man* costs in the year were £5,880.61. TheTe aTe currentty no plans to replace him. Our main expenditure in the year reiated to the salary of our Communty SuFWrt Ccpordinator who works pan-lime for the Church. We wish 10 highlight the encouraging gTani of £I3.￿rf) that we recerved In the year from the charity called Colchester Catalysi, 8nd to thank Ihem for this oeneTOUS gifL £10,000 of this has been credited to our new Building Fund as it is for the provision of accessible toilets and £3.COJ has been credited to our General Fund, as it is towards the cost ol our C(Mnmunity Support Cwrdinator, the cosi ol whcmn is borne by our Gener Fund. The financial results lor the year together wilh a surnmary of ts a(xounting p)I￿leS adopted are set out in the accomparying financias statements. Mariners Chapel was a participating emptyer wrthin Ihe Nauonal Employment Savings Trust pension scheme during the year. Mariners Chapel is heavily deperKleni on its membership working as volunteers in all aspects of ts actThiities, many of which run with little or no impact on Ihe Chapel expenditure, but nevertheless contrityJte substsntially to the aCh￿vernent of Ihe chJTch's 0￿"eCtives. Reserves Policy The Trustees have established a ReSe￿tt Policy to enable Mariners Chapel to function effectNely and meet its obligations in the event of a decline in our ￿coMe or a major co￿. The Church'5 Trustees consider that an audit is not required for thi5 year, under Section 144 of the Charities Act 20111.the Charities Art"), and that an independent examination needed. It is my responslblllty: to examlne the accounts under Section 145 of the Charities Act; to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions 8iven by the Charity CommSsslon (under Sertion 14515llbl of the Charities Act); and to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. of Inde endent Examiner'5 Statement My examinatlon was carried out In accordance with general Directions Biven by the Charity Commission. An examination include5 a review of the accounting records kept by the Chapel and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records.
