Achievements and Performance
| SORP reference |
||
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. The start of FY 2021/22 coincided with emerging economic difficulties following the impact of Covid-10. Research commissioned by the Charity Commission on the impact of the pandemic & lockdown on charities in England & Wales over the previous year concluded that its impact on charities had been significant, with confirmation of events being cancelled, services being affected, income being lost & fewer available volunteers. Further, the uncertainty around when charities would be able to return to ʻnormalityʼ only added to the mix. However, despite theses difficulties & the fact it was TLFʼs second full year operating as a registered charity, we were fortunate in being able to achieve our goals & successfully manage the risks brought about by cancelled events & the potential for less revenue. |
Para 1.20 | Ourmain achievements were: - Continuing our support for the Institute of Cancer Research. We visited their labs in December & were hugely impressed with their work, passion & the potential impact of their achievements on the future landscape of the diagnosis & treatment of children’s cancer. - Continuing to reach out to other charities with similar values & objectives to encourage collaboration & be better together. - Taking on & supporting new physical challenges to generate increased funding & support. - Engaging with social, community & business groups to raise awareness. - Continuing our participation in the REDMAPP study to support parents of children with Neuroblastoma who have relapsed. - Raising our profile more widely. The start of FY 2021/22 coincided with emerging economic difficulties following the impact of Covid-19. Further, Charity Commission research in 2020 concluded that its impact on charities had been significant, with events being cancelled, income being lost & fewer available volunteers. However, despite these difficulties & TLF’s relatively recent inception, over the second year of our journey, we have been fortunate in being able to achieve our short-term goals & successfully manage the risks brought about by cancelled events & the potential for lost revenue. In terms of our financial support, our generous supporters have helped us increase our annual cash income from around £7k in Year 1 to over £42k in Year 2. ‘ |
