REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES

The Trustees submit their Report together with the Statement of Receipts and Payments covering the year to 31 December 2021

OBJECTIVE

The Foundation has been established in memory of Eleanor Carey who died tragically in a cycling accident in London in December 2011 at the age of 22.

The Foundation operates in conjunction with Eleanor Foundation LBG (Guernsey), (EFG) founded in 2012 whose principal activity is to raise funds to be used for charitable purposes in the support of projects that Eleanor was interested in, particularly those linked to sustainable development in Africa.

EFG has established Eleanor Foundation (Tanzania) LBG, a Tanzanian Limited by Guarantee Company to undertake charitable work in that country and the Foundation intends, in conjunction with EFG, to support the work undertaken by the Tanzanian LBG.

REVIEW OF THE PERIOD

During the Covid outbreak, the Trustees have found it diffciult to achieve any momentum although they have received a number of small donations. From those monies and matched funding of £2,500 collected locally, it has been possible to complete two shallow wells in the village of Bwanga in Western Tanzania. These two wells should provide long term benefit to some 2,000 people.

The Trustees were also hampered towards the end of the year when Virgin Money, which had been a useful source of small donations, ceased operation. The Trustees have also established a relationship with Facebook and plan to establish a mechanism so that donations can also be received through the medium of JustGiving.

Details of financial activities are provided on page 4

RE-ELECTION OF TRUSTEES

In accordance with Section 9 (iv) of the Foundation's Constitution, Rachel Scott's apointment as a Trustee terminated at the Annual General Meeting of the Foundation held in June 2021. Being eligible, she was re-elected for a further term of five years at the Annual General Meeting held on 28 June 2021. Valerie Cameron's appointment terminates at the forthcoming Annual General Meeeting and a resolution for her re-appointment for a further term of five years will be tabled at that meeting.

STATEMENT OF THE TRUSTEES' RESPONSIBILITIES

The Trustees are responsible for the administration of the Foundation, particularly ensuring that all donations made to and funds raised by the Foundation are applied for the purposes for which the Foundation was established

REVIEW OF FINANCIAL STATEMENTS

The income of the Foundation falling below £25,000, no Examiner's Report is required and in consequence, the Trustees do not consider it necessary for any review of the Financial Statements to be undertaken by an Independent Examiner.
