60th Anniversary Dinner Reserve Account :-
This Account was by far the main social contributor created and funded to financially support the 60th Anniversary Dinner held at the New Continental Hotel in April 2024. The Account was financed by selected social events, during the year, which were attended only by Club Members and their guests to pay for all the expenditure incurred running the 60th Anniversary celebrations and Dinner. This Account contains all such income and expenditure and gives rise to an overall surplus of £143.25
As far as the actual celebratory Dinner/ Evening was concerned 86 paid £40 each to attend with the excess cost of the evening met from monies within the Reserve Account ..
Charity CIO
During the year the Club donated £9500 to 20 Charities many of which were located within our local community. By far our biggest fund raiser was the Bucket Shakes totalling £2866.17 plus Gift Aid £617.27 followed by £1981.01 from 3 weekly stints at Harewood House. Donations received, attendance at 2 Devonport Fairs, the Plympton Lamb Feast and 2 store Box collections were also contributors to our fund raising total.
The Club did not forget its pledge to serve the local community at its 60th Anniversary Dinner. The evening saw the Club hold a Silent Auction and Raffle which raised sufficient monies to donate £1000 each to The Mustard Tree and Plymouth Age UK.
The Club also financially assisted and participated in the Soup Run during the year incurring £948.71 Soup Run expenses supplemented by £315 donations.
Balance Sheet as at 30th June 2024
This continues to show 2 healthy credit Bank balances at 30th June 2024 and no creditors.

Treasurers Report for the year ended 30th June 2024
Another roller coaster year financially with a deficit of £332.63 arising administratively, a surplus of £412.98 socially and a deficit of £866.91 in respect of the Club’s charitable activities.
The figures continue to be affected by disruption caused by Covid 19, an ever continuous ageing membership and the Club’s inability to find fund raising activities to replace the Swimarathon, Dartmoor Walk and Sponsored Knit, which were in the past, always extremely lucrative money spinners.
Despite this, my report supports , as always, the sterling efforts of everyone connected with the Club to achieve the figures and position reflected in the Accounts for the year ended 30th June 2024 summarised as follows :-
Administration
Club Members who paid £1458 Subscriptions contributed the majority of the Club’s income, under this heading, during the year, which in turn funded a large part of the £1754.52 Lions Club International, Multiple District and District Dues paid . The shortfall was met by £331.50 Gift Aid claimable from certain Member’s subscriptions and in so doing helped to keep the Club’s annual membership subscription at its present level.
Administration Expenditure includes the purchase of flower Bulbs to provide a floral display near Plymouth Hoe to advertise and commemorate the Club’s 60th Anniversary year. Unfortunately the proposed display failed to materialise and an attempt to obtain an explanation for and redress the failure has sadly not been provided by the Plymouth City Council Strategic Planning and Infrastructure Department.
Depreciation of the Container sited at Elfordleigh used to store the Club’s equipment has been included in the Accounts at 10% for the year to write off the cost of the Asset over its expected useful life. An estimated market value of £600 for the Club’s equipment has also been included in this year’s Accounts and will be similarly depreciated from next year.
Social
The Social Committee arranged a Christmas Dinner and Handover Luncheon during the year as well as a Quiz Evening, Skittles evening and a Christmas evening. The monies paid by everyone attending these functions and the costs attributable have been included in the Accounts.
