Building on the activities from last year, Milton
Keynes Vihara has continued to conduct a
regular series of events aimed at supporting the
community gain a greater understanding of
Buddhist teachings and develop their practice of
meditation.
The children’s Dhamma School programme
continued through the year, moving to a
schedule of online sessions every two weeks.
Carried out a special appeal to raise funds and
provide parcels of essential food to families
affected by COVID-19 in Sri Lanka. This was
organised in collaboration with the Letchworth
Dhamma Nikethanaya Buddhist Academy, and
members of the MK Vihara community donated a
total of £945:

Organisation of Buddhist cultural events, such
as a programme of devotional songs to mark the
Poson full moon day in June 2021.
Supporting the wider Milton Keynes community,
for example by participating in events organised
by the Milton Keynes Nippon Myohoji Buddhist
Peace Pagoda.

Financial Review
Review of the charity’s
financial position at the
end of the period
Para 1.21 Net receipts for the charity operation for the
period from Nov 20202 – Oct 2021 is £5,203.
During the year, the trustees approved a request
from Dr. Dinuka de Silva to change the source of
his donations from one account to another. As a
result, a single transfer of £800/- was made to Dr.
de Silva, and which was replaced by a
remittance of £800/- from his personal account.
Additionally, during this year the Vihara
supported a special appeal to provide relief to
families affected by COVID-19, which raised
£945/-. This was disbursed to Ven. Akurala
Samitha, who coordinated the delivery of the
food parcels as explained in this video:

support the establishment of the Milton
Keynes Vihara. This includes i. Head of
the Centre; ii. President; iii. Secretary;
and iv. Treasurer of the Milton Keynes
Vihara who are ex-officio trustees as

In May 2021, one of the founding
Trustees, Mrs. Samanthi de Silva,
stepped down from her role at Trustee
and Treasurer for personal reasons. The
trustees have informed the wider
community of supporters of the vacancy
for a new trustee and treasurer but as
yet there have been no expressions of
interest in this role.
