| SORP reference | ||
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | This was the fifth full year of the Wolverley Memorial Charitable Trust and the third “normal” year after the lifting of Pandemic restrictions The number of regular hirers and “one-off” private hires for parties and other events continued to increase. One of the most significant achievements in the year was the continued development of the Community Café, extending the opening hours and the range of services provided. The Cafe has become a popular meeting place achieving the Charity’s aim of establishing the Café as a community hub. The Charity was again successful in obtaining a “Warm Space” grant allowing the Community Café to provide affordable food and refreshments during the Winter Period to help people with the cost of living crisis and prevent isolation. A programme of Eat, Drink and Learn events has been introduced to encourage local people to attend. A Remembrance Service was held on 10 November at the Memorial Hall, followed by a parade to the village church for the first time since Covid. This like the “Carols at the Hall” event will now be an annual event |
