Para 1.17 The Objects of the Club are such purposes as are
exclusively charitable in England & Wales, including in
particular:
a) the advancement of citizenship by:
- promoting the principles of good citizenship.
- encouraging members to take an active interest in the
civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the
community;
- providing a forum for the open discussion of all matters
of public interest, provided that partisan politics and
sectarian religion shall not be debated by members;
- encouraging service-minded people to serve their
community without personal reward and encouraging
the promotion of high ethical standards in commerce,
industry, professions, public works and private
endeavours; - supporting youth to develop their skills,
capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate
in society as mature and responsible individuals.
b) promoting the Voluntary Sector for the public benefit
by associating with local authorities in a common effort
to advance education and provide facilities in the
interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure
time occupation to improve the conditions of life of
people in local, national and international communities.
c) promoting volunteering.
d) the relief of poverty and the relief of those in need in
particular by providing humanitarian aid and disaster
relief.
e) the advancement of health or the saving of lives by
preventing avoidable blindness, assisting disabled
people to lead independent lives or helping to prevent
or manage health issues.
f) promoting for the benefit of the public the
conservation protection and improvement of the
physical and natural environment; and/or
g) promoting community participation in healthy
recreation.

During the period July 22 to June 23 the Club members
were able to: -
- provide Gazebos for the Rectory Fete and assisted that
event.
- run our 20thannual Classic Car Show at the
showground Cranleigh.
- organise and run the annual community Bonfire and
Fireworks celebration.
- operate another successful Market Stall in the run up
to Christmas.
- assist at the Remembrance Sunday memorial service.
- conduct our Christmas activities with Santa visiting the
many estates in Cranleigh and new ones but not
distributing gifts or collecting bucket donations. But still
able to provide over 200 Christmas Gift/food vouchers in
place of Christmas Hampers to individuals and families
locally.
- run our popular Great Easter Egg Hunt at the
Showground at Easter 23 (our ‘thank you’ to the
community for their support of our activities)
- organise Eggstravaganza to raise funds for the Air
Ambulance-Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
- organise our Lions Charter Dinner Dance at the local
Golf Club.
And finally, to organise and run Cranleigh Carnival and
Fun Day which, whilst not designed to make a profit,
more than covered its costs and was very much
appreciated by our community.
Project Wenceslas ran from October to March attracting
donations from locals who received but did not need the
Winter Fuel Payment. These donations are used for the
relief of fuel poverty or fuel debt.
Also, during this period we continued to collect funds for
the ‘One Cranleigh for Ukraine’ community project and
to house and re-house many Ukrainian families in our
locality.

by the Charity Commission and ensured we are carrying
out the purposes for which we were set up

Policy on grant making Para 1.38 Welfare requests and Wenceslas disbursements are
administered by their respective committees with
proposals being brought before the Club and Trustees
for approval. Any proposal with a possible conflict of
interest for any club member is first reviewed by the
Board of Trustees.

Para 1.38 The Club takes its responsibility for the civic, cultural,
social and moral welfare of the community very
seriously and donations towards community projects are
frequently supported.

Para 1.38 The Club had 56 members by the end of the year. In
undertaking our work, we also rely on other supporters
and the Friends of Cranleigh Lions Club, who all give
their time freely and without payment or reward.
Without such dedication and support we would not be
able to function and achieve as much as we do.

Para 1.20 In addition to organising the above events to benefit the
local community we were able, during this period to
Donate some £110,000 to good causes from the
proceeds of those and other activities and inward
donations from local donors during the year.
Over £23000 was donated to local individuals, families
or groups through our general Welfare Donations.
The One Cranleigh for Ukraine Fund has distributed over
£18000 and still had available funds of over £19000.
Glebelands School Mental Health Suite received £15000
Two Bursary campaigns provided over £11000 to local
organisations.
Over 200 Christmas Hamper Food Vouchers were
provided at a cost of c£12000
We made over £16000 of general donations to local
individuals, groups and organisations.
Air Ambulance Kent, Surrey and Sussex received £5000
Project Wenceslas donated £3424 to help with Fuel
poverty.
Multiple District Donations to Lions International
Foundation for disaster relief and Medical Appeals and
good causes received some £3000
Schools Welfare Funds received £2500.

Members Funds on Admin Account were

of Lions Clubs, a voluntary service organisation
that helps, supports and guides local clubs to

Responsibilities and basis of report As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Acl 2011 ("the Act"). I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 14515)Ib) of the A¢t.
