Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 The eight concerts outlined above show our
commitment to providing high quality music
performances for the enjoyment and
educational enrichment of local audiences.
We have been able to resume our normal
pattern of concerts using St Barnabas’ Church
for two concerts and Leighton Buzzard Library
Theatre for the other six.
We are pleased to report that attendances at
our concerts increased significantly to achieve
an average of 93 per concert.
To encourage music making by local young
people we make an annual award to
outstanding students attending the Leighton-
Linslade Music Centre held every Saturday at
Vandyke Upper School. The centre is run by
Central Bedfordshire council’s music service
“Inspiring Music”. This award will be made at
the end of this Summer term.
To encourage young people to attend classical
concerts, we offer_free_tickets to all under 17
year olds.
The wide variety of music and composers, jazz
and folk as well as classical, that we offer
demonstrates our commitment to broadening
the musical experience of our audience.

Para 1.22 Approximately £2,500 of the reserves are

until needed. Remaining reserves are kept in
a current account at Barclays Bank.
Amount of reserves held Para 1.22 £2,564
Reasons for holding zero reserves Para 1.22 Not applicable

Explanation of any uncertainties
about the charity continuing as a
going concern.
Para 1.23 Central Bedfordshire Council has contracted
out the management of the Leighton Buzzard
Library theatre. This has led to uncertainty as
to the future costs that may affect the charity
and the future availability of the venue. It is
understood that existing contracts will be
honoured. Other venues exist so it is highly
unlikely the charity will not continue as a
going concern.
