| Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit) |
The object of the charity is the promotion of community participation in healthy recreation in particular by the provision of facilities for the playing of sport. |
|---|---|
| The charity manages, on behalf of local residents and visitors, a recreation ground consisting of football and cricket pitch, children’s playground and green space with public right of way to open countryside. The trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit, which for the charity is the advancement of any sports or games which promote health by involving physical or mental skill or exertion and which are undertaken on an amateur basis. Volunteers run the charity. |
|
| Section D | Achievements and performance |
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year |
|
| The majority of activity undertaken on the recreation ground is informal sports and recreation. While there is no football club the goals remain in place all year round and are regularly used for some football practice or a knock about. Tetford Cricket Club practice and league matches resumed after the suspension due to the Covid pandemic. There is a playground, consists of swings, spinner and slide. The recreation ground is maintained to a high standard through the combined efforts of contractors and volunteers. Volunteers undertook a significant amount of work to check and maintain the ground and its facilities. The annual Terrier Racing fundraiser was cancelled again due to the Covid pandemic. Alternative fundraising events were arranged including successful quiz nights and an urgent appeal launched. |
|
| Section E Financial review | |
| Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves Details of any funds materially in deficit |

2022
•
The largest expenditure is for cost of rent, insurance and grounds maintenance.
The principal source of funds is usually from the annual Tetford Terrier Racing, a social event held on the recreation ground. For the second year the event was cancelled due to government Covid-19 restrictions. As an alternative an urgent appeal for support was launched including online Just Giving and Amazon Smile pages.
Over thirty donations were received and a gift in Will from Janet Booth. Grants from the Tetford & Salmonby Parish Council and East Lindsey District Council.
The Trustees are very grateful to those individuals and organisations who supported the appeal.
