Section C Objectives and activities Section C Objectives and activities
Summary of the objects of the
charity set out in its
governing document
Summary of the main
activities undertaken for the
public benefit in relation to
these objects
The object of the charity is the promotion of community participation in
healthy recreation in particular by the provision of facilities for the playing
of sport.
The charity manages, on behalf of local residents and visitors, a
recreation ground consisting of football and cricket pitch, childrens’
playground and green space with public right of way to open countryside.
The trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity
Commission on public benefit, which for the charity is the advancement
of any sports or games which promote health by involving physical or
mental skill or exertion and which are undertaken on an amateur basis.
Volunteers run the charity.
Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity
during the year
The year was dominated by issues arising from the Covid-19 coronavirus
pandemic. Trustees had to take steps to secure the financial future of the
charity as well as ensure compliance with lockdown rules. The recreation
ground proved to be an invaluable area of greenspace for exercise even
with formal sports suspended.
The majority of activity undertaken on the recreation ground is informal
sports and recreation. While there is no football club the goals remain in
place all year round and are regularly used for some football practice or a
knock about.
Tetford Cricket Club was unable to play matches on the recreation
ground and was restricted to some late season practice.
The playground, consisting of swings, spinner and slide, was closed until
4thJuly 2020 in accordance with government guidance. It was opened up
with a regular cleaning regime and signage, as soon as practical after
restrictions were eased.
The recreation ground is maintained to a high standard through the
combined efforts of contractors and volunteers.
Section E Financial review
Brief statement of the
charity’s policy on reserves
The charity aims to hold sufficient financial reserves to cover at least a
year’s expenditure. Funds are held in a Lloyds Bank current account.

Details of any funds materially None in deficit Further financial review details (Optional information) ~~~~ Formatted: Bullets and Numbering The largest expenditure is for cost of rent, insurance and grounds maintenance. The charity’s principal source of funds is usually from the annual Tetford Terrier Racing, a social event held on the recreation ground. In 2020 the event was cancelled due to government Covid-19 restrictions. Grants and donations were gratefully received from the Tetford and Salmonby Parish Council, East Lindsey District Council, Lincolnshire County Council and Sports England Covid-19 Community Emergency Fund. Section F Other optional information Due to the continued impact of the Covid-19 coronavirus global pandemic Trustees had to take steps to secure the financial future of the charity. With the fundraiser, Tetford Terrier Racing, cancelled in 2020 and 2021, and with a number of grant applications unsuccessful, Trustees launched a fundraising appeal in June 2021.
