Objectives and Activities

SORP reference
Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document
Para 1.17 1. To provide or assist in the provision
of facilities in the interests of social
welfare for recreation or other
leisure time occupation of
individuals who have need of such
facilities by reason of their youth,
age, infirmity or disability, financial
hardship or social circumstances
with the object of improving their
conditions of life.
2. The relief of children who are in
need by reason of their age, ill
health or disability, social or
economic circumstances or other
disadvantage in particular but not
exclusively by providing clothing,
educational supplies and health
provisions.
Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or
services identified in the
accounts.
Para 1.17 and
1.19
As we all know the pandemic of COVID-19
impacted the world from January 2019
onwards. Our charity therefore had to make
a range of decisions about the activities
that we carried out this year. The first
significant decision that we made was to
not run our annual educational summer
camp for refugee children in Lebanon. This
was as a direct result of the pandemic not
allowing us to organise this project and it
not being safe to bring together so many
people.
We therefore focused our efforts on the
following projects:

Ramadan 2020 Fundraising
campaign

Partnership with Blackburn UK Trust
to deliver food packs in Gaza,
Palestine

Sadaqa campaign (via Launchgood)
where funds were raised to be spent
on providing food support for the
needy in Palestine
Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit
Para 1.18 All trustees have had regard to the
guidance issued by Charity Commission on
public benefit throughout this year and
continue to do so.

Achievements and Performance Achievements and Performance Achievements and Performance
SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 Our main achievement during this period
was our partnership with Blackburn Trust
UK. They sent us $27,134.60 to be used to
provide food packs for the neediest people
in the Gaza Strip, Palestine. Through this
funding we were able to support some of
the poorest families in the most
marginalised areas of Gaza and North
Gaza through the provision of urgently
needed key nutritional food items.
-500 families received:
- food assistance (food parcels) one week
before the month of Ramadan
The project focused on the immediate
response to the needs of poor and
marginalised families in Gaza to have food
before the beginning of the Holy Month of
Ramadan.
The project created a positive impact on
the lives of the beneficiaries throughout the
targeted areas in the Gaza Strip. It satisfied
an urgent and pressing need for beneficiary
families to secure their basic food needs
during that are necessary for Suhur and
Fitrah in Ramadan, given the already harsh
economic and social conditions of such
families.
This project created a positive impact on
the lives of the beneficiaries throughout the
targeted areas in Gaza Strip. The impact of
the project was positive in different ways:

The project has been successful in
meeting and responding to the urgent
needs of the targeted families in Gaza
Strip.

The project has provided affected
families with means to cope with their bad
circumstances and to provide them with the
urgent needs to survive, that they cannot
afford by themselves.

The project has provided the
families with the basic needs to survive and
live decently. It has provided the families
with their most important right (right to
food).

All distributed items were suitable
for the use during Ramadan. They also
were of good quality. They were also
meeting the tastes of the people and
traditions.

Benefiting families were satisfied
and felt supported. They expressed their
gratitude for Blackburn's and ICF’s
generous support.
The money raised through the Launchgood
sadaqa campaign and the Ramadan 2020
campaign were spent on food packs for the
need in Palestine.

Financial Review

Financial Review
Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 We raised £128,787 in donations and spent
£46,900 of it. We are extremely pleased
with our financial position especially as this
year we operated throughout the COVID-
19 pandemic yet were still able to raise
significant funds and distribute them on a
range of projects (as detailed above).
Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held
Para 1.22 We are not yet able to hold reserve funds
as we have only operated since May 2019
and are still looking to grow our income.
Amount of reserves held Para 1.22 n/a
Reasons for holding zero
reserves
Para 1.22 Once we can hold reserves, we will.
Currently all the money we raise is given
for specific projects and are therefore
restricted funds. We aim to raise funds for
the charity generally and at this point we
will hold this money as reserves.
Details of fund materially in
deficit
Para 1.24 n/a
Explanation of any
uncertainties about the
charity continuing as a going
concern
Para 1.23 No uncertainties, the charity has operated
well throughout this financial period even
during COVID-19. We have been able to
partner with other charities and deliver a
range of projects (as detailed above)
