Objectives and Activities

SORP reference
Summary of the purposes of
the charity as set out in its
governing document
Para 1.17 The purposes of the CIO are:
-
for the public benefit to advance the
education of school age children
attending London schools in Special
Educational Differences (SPEDs)
such as Dyslexia, Autism and
ADHD.
-
To promote equality and diversity
by advancing and raising
awareness in these domains.
Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or
services identified in the
accounts.
Para 1.17 and
1.19
During the November 2023- February 2024
period, the charity continued its existing
work of delivering the Neurodiveristy Youth
Advocate programme sessions to year 12
students remotely who come from schools
in London, and new additions Birmingham
& Leicester. Sessions covered common
challenges experienced by members of the
SPED community with Autism and ADHD
such as media portrayal, acceptance in the
community and mental health. Students
then gave an awareness campaign to
members of their community. Our student’s
choice of communities included their form
class, their family, and one student chose
to deliver their talk to a medical society that
their school.
The sessions were delivered by both the
Trustees of the organisation andpaid staff.

Paid staff accounted for £254.81 during this period. During January 2024-November 2024, more direction and emphasis has been placed on driving both our marketing campaign and our fundraising initiatives. In regard to marketing, we have recruited a 4[th] Trustee whose main role is to focus on developing and implementing our marketing strategy on our social media sites to encourage conversation and awareness to our target audience of students, parents, educators, and fellow neurodiversity advocates and organisations on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn. In terms of fundraising, the charity delivered 2 street clinics in King’s College London which informed students, staff and visitors on site about Dyslexia, ADHD and reasonable adjustments whilst signposting them to where they can find more information. Some members donated funds to the charity during the event. The material required and staff payments to drive the fundraising and marketing initiatives including uniform and marketing materials (stationary) accounted for £341.28 during this period. The charity raised £39.54 from street clinic. During July 2024, the Charity ran the Year 11 Neurodiversity Youth Advocate Summer School programme which used case-based learning to help students appreciate the origin of stigma for the neurodiverse community through mediums like the media and the effects of this in terms of mental health, employment, and education. Students had to then reflect on how the programme has shaped them to be a Neurodiveristy Youth Advocate and present on how their conversation with a member of the SPED community will impact them in terms of supporting future individuals who are neurodiverse and advocating for them.

The sessions were delivered by both the
Trustees of the organisation and paid staff.
Paid staff accounted for £330.00 during this
period.
For the next Annual report period, A CPD
day would be conducted in collaboration
with University of Buckingham which would
be delivered by the co-founder to fellow
medical educators in order to develop their
practice on neuroinclusivity in medical
education. For this certificates of
participations were required to be designed
and printed for the session which
accounted for £26.84 .
Between November 2023 and November
2024, our charity assistant has aided the
charity in terms of liaison with schools for
our programmes to be run and aid trustees
in keeping on top of their tasks. During this
period, the charity assistant accounted for
£437.20 during this period.
Between June 2024- November 2024, the
charity has trained staff who were
delivering our Neurodiversity Youth
Advocate programmes to the Summer
School & Post-16 programmes to students
from different schools across London,
Birmingham & Leicester which focussed on
cultural stigma and its effects on the
Neurodiverse community as well as trained
staff involved in Fundraising and Marketing
initiatives. Staff costs accounted for
£122.60 during this period.

Achievements and Performance

SORP reference

Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 During the Course of September 2023-
February 2024, July 2024 and September
2024- Present, the Charity has been
delivering workshops via an Neurodiversity
Youth Advocate online summer school to
year 11 students in London and Post-16
students in schools in London, Birmingham
& Leicester. Both works to raise Awareness
of neurodiversity, the sources of
stigmatisation and the effects it could have
on the neurodiverse community.
Additionally, workshops are being desired
in collaboration with university of
Buckingham to deliver Medical Educators
working at University of Buckingham on
neurodiversity awareness in medical
education and the charity has run its
second street clinic raising awareness of
dyslexia to the public in King’s College
London Guys campus area. The following
positive impacts were generated.
Impact on the Neurodiverse Community:
A market research survey covered with
both year 11 & 12s demonstrated an
overall positive change in perceptions of
dyslexia and Autism, with an overall 99.5%
percent accuracy increase on the traits
associated with these special educational
differences.
Additionally, prior to the programmes
overall 52.8% of the students stated they
felt confident with supporting their fellow
neurodiverse peers socially and
emotionally. This boosted to 100% post
both the summer school & 2023-2024 Post-
16 Neurodiversity Youth Advocate
programmes.
All students of the post-16 programme also
delivered an awareness campaigns raising
awareness on aparticular SPEDgroupof

choice. This is the third time that students had all gone out to raise awareness on SPEDs after what they have learnt from the programme. The communities that had awareness campaigns delivered by our Youth Advocates include: (a) their school via an assembly or form class, (b) family members, & (c) One student delivered their campaign to their medical society. Overall, 100% of the students on the programme reported that they felt confident in their development of their communication skills, problem-solving and critical thinking skills to raise awareness to the general public. Ratings of our Sessions and its impact on self-development of the students who attend: 100% of the participants rated all the sessions of the programme excellent or outstanding. The sessions showed to have the most significant impact were: the conversations with the SPED community session, which the year 11 & 12 students get a chance to converse with a guest about their lived experience of having a SPED. The Theology session where year 12 students looked at debated the stigmatising effects of the word “disability” and the Mental Health session which both year 11 and post-16 students identified common stressors for neurodivergent individuals and had basic training on how to facilitate supportive discussions in peers who are neurodivergent.

One of the feedbacks of our programmes can be seen below “ Thank you so much for being able to be a part of the programme! I enjoyed getting to meet people who shared the same interests as me and really found speaking to guests with SPEDs one of the biggest highlights of the experience.”
