| Summary ofthe main achievements ofthe charity during the year |
The Colkins Mill church congregation was glad to hold all Sunday services together in the building, though a legacy ofthe pandemic is services continue to be live-streamed for anyone unable to attend in |
that | ||
| person. The pattern ofserving breakfast before the services, initiated year to help people reconnect after social restrictions were lifted, has |
last | |||
| been continued throughout the year. |
| Informal small groups have been meeting weekly in three homes as |
in | |||
| previous years, focused on prayer, care and discipleship. | ||||
| Our monthly celebrations for people with learning difficulties continue |
to | |||
| be enjoyed by around 30people from local care homes. | ||||
| In response to perceived needs in the community, Colkins Mill Church |
| has run a number of initiatives: | ||||
| Monthly Sunday lunches have been served at Church, primarily for |
| people living on their own. These have been popular! |
| The Church opened a 'Warm Welcome Space' for two days a week to | ||||
| support people with cost of living through the winter months. This |
was | |||
| well supported by volunteers from the Church, though few people |
| from Mayrield took advantage ofthe facility and it is not planned to |
be | |||
| repeated. | ||||
| Coffee mornings continued to be run for Ukrainian refugees, until were no longer needed towards the end of2022. The Church |
they | |||
| provided two electronic tablets for the village Primary School to help |
| support the learning ofthe Ukrainian children there. |
| The work with young people in the village has been uninterrupted this |
| year, and has seen strong attendance ofaround 40 children each week |
| across the two mid-week club nights that are offered. Another successful |
| weekend camp was run, taking 30young people away to a Christian |
| outward-bound centre. |
| The Church organised a small number ofsocial activities connecting |
with | |||
| the community, including an afternoon tea party for neighbours, a |
| barbecue for the Ukrainian community, and a sold-out quiz night. |
| In 2021 the Church had promised funding ofchild counselling at the |
| Primary School over the three years emerging from Covid 19,and the |
| final payment was made during the year. |
| During the year ending March 2023, after a review ofreserves and |
| careful consideration ofa number ofprojects, the Church was able to |
| make funding commitments toa number of ChristLan organisations and |
| initiatives, including WyciNe Bible Translators, People International, |
| London City Mission, Ichthus Christian Fellowship and Youth With a |
| Mission. Some ofthese grants are two orthree year commitments, and |
| the future obligations have been taken into consideration when assessing |
| free reserves ofthe Church. |
