Additionally, the org8nEation has orchestrated compelling national road shows, not only as a means of fundraising but also to aelively foster community engagement and support. Aehievements and performance The Hope Appeal continued lo support vulnerable communities in meaningful ways, focusing on orph8ns, widows, povety alleviation, and post-disaster recovery. a. Support for Orphans Supporting orphans remained a top priority in 2023, with efforts focused on both immediate assistan￿ and long- term opportunities. The charity provided food, clothing, and safe living environments for orphaned children. Education was a key focus, with funds allocated lo ensure access to schooling and other educational resources. This investment in educatson is critscal for empowering orphans lo build successful and Independent lives. b. Support for Widows The Hope Appeal provided targeted aid to widows, addressing their specific needs and helping to restore stability and dignity. c. Challenges in 2023 - 2024 The cessation of live fundraising shows on the Sky p18tform resulted in a dip in revenue, prompting the charity to consider innovative fundraising strategies for the future. Plans for 2024- 2025 The Hope Appeal will prioritise leveraging social media outreach to connect with a wider audience and enhance fundraising efforts. This approach will allow the charity to share its mission, highlight the imp8cI of its work, and inspire greater support. Going coneem After making appropriate enquiries, the Trustees have a reasonable expectation that the Charity has adequate resources to eontinue in operational existence for the foreseeable futu￿. For this reason, they continue lo adopt the going eoncern basis in preparing thè financial stalemenls. Further details regarding the adoption of the going COn￿M basis can be found in the accounting policies. b. Reserves policy The Charity maintains reserves of £5,000 for emergencies. This is deemed sufficient because the work undertaken by the Charity (such as financial management and fundr8isingi is done so by volunteers and the Board of Trustees. Page 4

Accounting policies 2.1 Basis of preparation of financial ststements The charity constitLJles a public benefit entity as defined by FRS 102. The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland issued in October 2019, the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021, the Charities Act 2011, the Companies Act 2006 and UK Generally Accepted Accounting Practi￿. The Hope Appeal meets the definition of a public benefit entity Ljnder FRS 102. Assets and liabilities are Initially recognised al historical cost or transaction value unless otherwise slated in the relevant accounb.ng policy. 2.2 Income All income is recognised once the Charity has entillemenl to the income, il is probable that the income will be received and the amount of income receivable can be measured reliably. Donated services by volunteers are not recognised in the financial statements. 2.3 Expenditure Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or constructive obligation to transfer economic benefit to a third paty, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure is classified by activity. The costs of each activity are made up of the total of direct costs and shared costs, Including support costs inVo￿ed in undertaking each activity. Direct costs attributable lo a single activity are allocated directly to that activity. Shared costs which contribute to more than one activity and support costs which are not attributable lo a single activity are apportioned between those activities on a basis consistent with the use of resourTrs. Expenditure on charitable activities is incurred on direclly undertaking the activities which further the Charity's objectives, as well as any associated support costs. All expenditure is inclusive of irrecoverable VAT. 2.4 Cash at bank and in hand Cash at bank and in hand includes cash and short-term highly liquid investments with a short maturity of three months or less from the dale of acquisition or opening of the deposit or similar account. Liabilities are recognised at the amount that the Charity anlicipales il will pay lo sellle the debt or the amount il has re￿iVed as advanced payments for the goods or services it musl provide. Provisions are measured at the best estimate of the amounts required lo sellle the obligation. Where the effect of the lime value of money is material, the provision is based on the present value of those amounts, discounted at the pre-tax discount rale that reflects the risks specific to the liability. The unwinding of the discount is recognised in the Slalement of Financial Activities as a finance cost. 2.6 Fund accounting General funds are unreslricled funds which are available for use at the discretion of the Trustees in furtherance of the general objectives of the Charity and which have not been designated for other purposes.
