2020 was certainly an interesting year!

As a fledgling organisation, we had to rethink our strategy during the national lockdown, as we’re used to face to face engagement and this couldn’t happen during the pandemic. We’d heard from lots of young people that they were in need of a platform to showcase their creativity during lockdown, so rather than resting on our laurels, I4YPC decided to try something new, by creating the perfect space for young people to do this. We launched an online competition and workshop called ‘RapYourTown’. ‘RapYourTown’ saw hundreds of young people engaging with I4YPC - either through the competition, the workshop or Social Media and before we knew it, there was a real ‘buzz’ around it!

Strategically this was also a great move for I4YPC, as schools and other professional bodies liked what we were offering and got in touch with us. I4YPC has now forged strong links with schools and other youth organisations nationwide, has teacher-led curriculum projects lined up for the 2021-2022 academic year, created live briefs for college students and most importantly…

…Our real-life play - ‘Innit: Musical’ - has been programmed at The Lowry for a two-week run in September 2023!

‘experience the creativity and exhilaration of live theatre’. We’ll be seeking a Mayoral pledge to ensure all Year 8&9 pupils in Salford can see the show, get a pre-show assembly, a post-show workshop and are transported there and back…for FREE! We say that I4YPC is ‘crazily ambitious’ and we mean it!

IT WAS A PLEASURE TO SEE TOUGH, REPEAT OFFENDERS JUMPING UP AND DOWN ON THEIR SEATS AND CLAPPING. ON A MORE SERIOUS NOTE, THE ISSUES RAISED IN THE SHOW NOW FORMS PART OF THE ONGOING OFFENCE-FOCUSED WORK WITH OFFENDERS AND I'M SURE THE EXPERIENCE OF SEEING YOUR PERFORMANCE ASSISTS IN THESE DISCUSSIONS.
