The main object of the Charity is the advancement of the Christian Faith for the benefit of the public in accordance with the statements of belief appearing in the schedule by providing a place of worship for the members of the Greek Orthodox Christian Community of Manchester and its surrounding areas.
The Trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit.
During this year, 2021, the Charities main stream activities were impacted, as for the previous year 2020, by the pandemic, Covid-19. The activities undertaken in 2021 for public benefit are categorised as below:

Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)
-
Church attendance provided a good and healthy life balance for our parishioners unlike last year that was heavily impacted upon by the pandemic. Attendance restrictions were imposed but worship during Sundays was still possible in accordance to Government directive and advice. All directives were adhered to through risk assessments and best operating practice’s.
-
2) Hall usage and functions as per the previous year were once again curtailed due to Covid-19. Only a small number of functions, with limited attendance were carried out during the year, resulting in low revenue for the Charity. Hire of the hall to parishioners was again restricted for most of the year.
-
3) School activities were also impacted upon, tuition remained online for the entire Academic year. Very few lessons were undertaken face to face.

Furthermore, the trustees will seek to update their facilities to accommodate the disabled members of the community as this progress was hindered and slowed down by the pandemic outbreak.
