Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 Membership numbers increased by 20%
over last year and now stand at a record for
the club – currently over 120 members.
Last season both our Men’s League Monday
teams and Thursday teams were promoted
to the first division and were expected to
struggle in these divisions, but we finished
mid table or better. The increasing strength
in depth in the club has enabled us to enter
another team on Mondays.
Membership of the Ladies Section has
increased significantly. The club now has
one of the largest lady memberships in the
county. Our team in the mixed league
remains in Division 1.
Record numbers from the local community
turned out each Friday night, when the club
opens its doors to new bowlers and starters.
Over 60 members participated in our Short
Mat Bowls held indoors during the winter,
providing exercise and social interaction at a
difficult time for many.

Additional information (optional)
You may choose to include further statements
where relevant about:
Achievements against
objectives set
Para 1.41 Despite substantial increases in the costs of
running the club, new income proved
sufficient to ensure the club made a small
surplus of receipts over payments.
Performance of fundraising
activities against objectives
set
Para 1.41 Fundraising made a significant contribution
to covering costs, but the figure was down
on last year. Fortunately receipts from short
mat bowls made up for the lesser
contribution from social events
Investment performance
against objectives
Para 1.41 Interest rates on our savings account
increased
Other We lost several of our room hirers because
of Covid, and it has been difficult to get new
hirers who can fit in with the clubs
increasingly busy schedules.

Financial Review

financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 The club is in a strong financial position,

Para 1.22 The club holds reserves in a safe home (the

earmarking those reserves for either
clubhouse refurbishment, redevelopment or
