Orphans Trust Project
Ribaat Ashatiri remains steadfast in its mission to provide hope and opportunity for vulnerable children. Through the Orphans Trust Project, we are building a safe, nurturing orphanage in Uganda to transform the lives of orphaned children. This year, despite a quieter operational period, we have made significant strides in advancing our mission and achieving key milestones as we focus on completing our vision for a fully equipped orphanage.
Governance and Oversight
Ribaat Ashatiri is governed by a dedicated Board of Trustees that ensures all activities align with our mission and meet the highest standards of compliance. This year, the Board: oversaw the allocation of funds to critical project phases, reviewed financial reports and progress updates to ensure accountability and engaged in strategic planning for the final phase of the orphanage project.
Achievements for this financial year:
-
Completion of Phase 1, which was a foundational work critical for long-term structural integrity. This phase included land excavation and levelling to prepare for construction.
-
Completion of Phase 2, which was the main achievement for this year. This phase focused on structural construction where we completed the construction of the walls, rooms, and roofing of the orphanage. Structural integrity and safety standards were prioritized to create a secure environment. These achievements mark a major step forward in realizing our vision for a transformative facility that offers shelter, education, and opportunity.
-
Preparations for Phase 3, which involved strategic planning and initial preparations for Phase 3.
Beneficiary Focus
This project is not merely about construction; it is about creating meaningful change. Once completed, the orphanage will: provide a secure home to orphaned and vulnerable children, ensure access to quality education and essential resources and foster a safe and nurturing environment for personal growth and success.
Financial Summary
This year, funds were directed towards successfully completing Phase 2. As a charity, we remain committed to ensuring that every donor contribution towards this project is maximized for impact by operating on a 100% donation policy.
Looking Ahead
Our focus for the coming year will be on completing the final phase of the orphanage which focuses on finalizing infrastructure, furnishing classrooms, living spaces, and equipping the orphanage with essential amenities. With strategic fundraising efforts already underway, we are confident in our ability to deliver on this life-changing project.
Conclusion
Ribaat Ashatiri affirms its full compliance with all regulatory and ethical standards. This report reflects our ongoing commitment to accountability and our mission to serve vulnerable children. With continued support, we will complete this life-changing project and deliver on our promise to the children who inspire our mission every day.
Financial review
Statement on reserves
Our current reserves limit is £6000. This means any amount of unrestricted funds up to and including £6000 may be reserved by the charity, for the reasons outlined in reserves policy. We aim to only have an amount of reserves that is proportionate to what is required to continue our existing operations and respond to any urgent operational needs that may arise, in the face of unexpected financial implications. Income from any sources are principally used to further our charitable purposes and benefit those whom we work with. Our reserve limit will be adjusted accordingly as our work progresses, which will be reflected in our Reserves Policy.
