The Charity appoints trustees who are professional, with good standing within their local communities and who are active in promoting and supporting the work of the charity. The charity has continued to build strong relationships with other Sikh Charities and interfaith groups across the UK. All trustees give their time voluntarily and receive no remuneration or any other benefit. |

Section C Objectives and activities
Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document
Advance the sikh religion in the United Kingdom but especially in the south-west of england and wales for the benefit of the public through the holding of prayer meetings, lectures, public celebration of religious festivals, producing and/or distributing literature to enlighten others about the sikh religion.
The benefit of this is to provide the general public with knowledge on the sikh faith. activities will also include: ·the provision of education of the gurmukhi language for people of all ages; ·education on the subject of sikh scriptural studies and sikh philosophy and ·the provision of training in classical and contemporary indian musical arts in accordance with the teachings of the sikh religion.
Bristol Gurmat Class runs multiple weekly classes teaching around 100 individuals. Religious services are held. Free Food (Langar) is offered to all our participants and is cooked and prepared by our volunteers.

A great contribution is made by all volunteers who help Bristol Gurmat Class. We are grateful to all those who have supported the charity.

Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main At the end of the previous Financial year (May 2023) we moved into our achievements of the charity new permanent premises at the Old Flowerpot Inn, High Street, during the year Kingswood, Bristol, BS15 4AQ. This meant we became responsible for the operation and associated running costs of this permanent base. We invested in our equipment, security and IT.
Additionally, we continued to hire May Park Primary School for our Saturday class.
In July 2023 we organised an outdoor event (Gurmat Samagam) at our new site inaugurating the premises. In August we held our first residential camp for over 100 attendees in South Wales.
The rest of the academic year we continued to host an array of religious/ interfaith and educational events.
Each event was supplemented by free meals provided by the organisation (Guru Ka Langar).
We continued to support local charities and worked to support Bristol and Bath's Sikh Student Unions.

Basis of independent My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given examiner’s statement by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
