The Charity appoints trustees who are professional, with good standing within their local communities and who are active in promoting and supporting the work of the charity. The charity has continued to build strong relationships with other Sikh Charities and interfaith groups across the UK. All trustees give their time voluntarily and receive no remuneration or any other benefit.

Advance the sikh religion in the United Kingdom but especially in the south-west of england and wales for the benefit of the public through the holding of prayer meetings, lectures, public celebration of religious festivals, producing and/or distributing literature to enlighten others about the sikh religion.

The benefit of this is to provide the general public with knowledge on the sikh faith. activities will also include: ·the provision of education of the gurmukhi language for people of all ages; ·education on the subject of sikh scriptural studies and sikh philosophy and ·the provision of training in classical and contemporary indian musical arts in accordance with the teachings of the sikh religion.

Bristol Gurmat Class held weekly classes teaching the Gurmukhi language and Sikh Scripture to around 100 individuals. Free Food (Langar) is offered to all our participants and is cooked and prepared by our volunteers. Indian Classical Music was taught by a specialist tutor for the first time and we were able to increase our inventory of Indian Classical Instruments vastly. Safeguarding, Martial Arts, mental health and other workshops were held and organised by Bristol Gurmat Class.

Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

After the easing of restrictions due to the Covid Pandemic in July 2021 we were able to organise monthly Smagams (religious events) at the Gurdwara, these were a huge success with high numbers attending.
We were able to begin a national safeguarding project and arrange training with the NSPCC, Ann Craft Trust and 'thirtyone:eight' for our volunteers who now go to Gurdwaras to deliver safeguarding training.
After two years of virtual learning we restarted face-to face classes at community venues in May 2021 after sudden eviction by the Gurdwara we had operated from since inception. Langar (free food) in the form of both breakfast and Lunch was prepared outdoors for much of the year. Music classes and singing classes were improved significantly.
We decided to celebrate our fifth year of existence with a huge celebration showcasing our work to the community. The event was an open-air marquee event, the first of it's kind in the South-West. It raised the profile of the charity to great heights.

Respective The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. responsibilities of The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year trustees and examiner under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to:

examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act,
to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act, and
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.

Basis of independent My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given examiner’s statement by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
