Charity name: South Camden Community Trust

Charity registration number: 1181809

Objectives and Activities

SORP
reference
Summary of the purposes
of the charity as set out in
its governing document
Para
1.17
The Trust supports activities and organisations
that serve the wellbeing, education and
development of children and their families living in
Somers Town. By working with children from an
early age alongside their families, we believe their
quality of life can be improved and opportunities
for education and employment broadened.
Summary of the main
activities in relation to those
purposes for the public
benefit, in particular, the
activities, projects or
services identified in the
accounts.
Para
1.17 and
1.19
Currently we are fundraising to support the work
of the Edith Neville Family Centre which:
• Promotes parental engagement with
children’s education, physical
development and health from birth to get
them ‘school ready’ for reception.
• Offers 1:1 family assessment to all new
families and helps target the right
support and services to the families
• Supports parents to support their
children in school
• Provides stepping stones and signposting
for ‘hard to reach’ families so they can
access medical and social services,
training and the wealth of world class
resources and amenities available just
around the corner
• Provides parent support sessions tailored
to meet the families’ needs
• Social Integration – Family Swimming is
especially constructive introducing
mothers not only to swimming with their
small children but also the library and to
each other.
The Family Centre encourages social integration
and community cohesion by bringing together
families in the community including Bengali
families (57% of the local population) and Somali
families (18% of the local population) and the
wider community within South Camden.
Statement confirming
whether the trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit
Para
1.18
The trustees confirm that they have had regard to
the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on
public benefit for the period of this report.

Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 The Edith Neville Family Centre has received
direct funding which, together with grants
from SCCT grant has ensured that its work
could continue until March 2024. This year
SCCT itself received a grant ‘Camden Giving’,
which has been passed on to the Family
Centre. SCCT also made a small donation to
Scene and Heard, a charity running drama
workshops for children locally.

Financial Review

Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 SCCT has distributed all its restricted funds to
Edith Neville Primary School’s Family Centre.
The trustees decided to hand the charity over
to new people once all funds raised had been
disbursed appropriately. After a small
donation to another organisation working with
children locally, it holds only £9 in reserve,
enough to meet small outstanding liabilities.
The new trustees will continue to raise funds
for the Family Centre and other local causes.
