Liberian midwifery training moved from threeear diploma courses to four-year de8rees two years a80, and PEBCHS Is one of the Instltutlons choseft to make an early transltlon to degree courses. HLMT was asked whether It could support the extra yearf5 trainir¢g for all r15 Students. Including those who had Inltlally enrolled for a three- vear course. Since four-year de8ree courses wjll become the 8old standard in Liberian midwifery trainirn& HLMT Trustees unanimously a8reed to support all its sponsored students for the extra year. This adds an extra £9c to the sponsorshlp costs of each student. HLMT asked key Liberian stakeholders, In¢ludln8 the Mlnlstry of Health. the Llbefla Board for Nurslng and Mldwifery. the Liberian Midwives Assoclation and the Phoebe-Esther 8acon College of Health S¢ien¢es, to formally endorse the work olihe Trust.
