Development Planning
The proposed first phase of the development is a very modest infill extension to house toilets and kitchen facilities needed to deliver the Trust’s objectives and to enable use of the building as an emergency refuge. Architectural plans are in preparation and permission to construct sewage treatment and treated water discharge are being negotiated with adjacent property owners.
Fund raising
Grant funding applications have been submitted to Lancashire Environmental Fund (LEF) and to Orsted / Grantscape. A more extensive bid to the National Heritage lottery Fund is being prepared.
Local charity funding is being provided via the Coop. Revenue income from sales of local community history books and calendars is providing a steady modest income.
Engagements and events
The Trust are promoting engagement with relevant local authorities and organisations, Lancaster city council, Overton Parish Council and Morecambe Bay partnership.
Future openings are planned for exhibitions, school visit support and performance events. The hire service of Tramper all terrain mobility vehicles is to be restarted post Covid.
