Introduction This season has been the flrst in which we have collaborated more ck)sely wilh Music al Duffiald with the integration of our respective concrt prcgrammes. It has been a challenging season during which we have had to adjust lo several changes and deal th unforeseen problems but wa managed to deliver a musically rewarding season. 2. Membership and attendance Attendance at this season's concerts has bt¢n very variable. The joint concerts with Music at Duffield saw very gl audience number5 Exrt the November and December concert numbers V•re dbsappointing. We thidgd that we Shoukl stop th& rafflg and that I would continue lo $upport the cost of printing of the programmes instead. So in Dècemberwe programmed tha Bach to be played by David Wnghl on the harpsichord. This proved a challenging cOnrt to arrange as the varlations are Ig. The 8econd hall lealured Laurenc8 Flower on double bass accompanbgd by Alexander Kwon, two very personable students frcffl Oxlord UnNef8ity, who sts)wed whal inuedible capabilit$ the double bass hos. It was Music •t Duffi&ld'8 Bemr08e Recital and wa8 held in the Multi Faith C8ntr6. 11 featured the pl8nl8t, Benjamin Frith and indudèd a d8eply moving perfonnance ol Beelhovon's H¥mmerkl8vier Sonata. Th6 final coneert of th8 sea¥on in April fèatured Kathérinè J6nkin80n Icellol with gue81s, Jack Llebeck Iviolinl, Fiona Bonds Ivio18I and Wiv McLèan Ipiano). Thi8 concrt Was dedicated lo the memory of Jon Turngr and the programme was altered al short notlce lo accommodate Brahms C8110 Sonata No I so that thg concart featurgd o work8 by Brahms. thi8 and the Piano Quartet No 1, to rellèct Jon's love of Brahm8'8 music. It was another vory rewardlng 8venl and did Jon's memory proud. We have Wel)Med new people onto t Committee during year. They are Yoon Iron8 and Farid Moh8en. They are both linkèd to the University where Y¢)on is Asswate Profèssor of for Health and Wellbging with a partlcular inlèresl in music. We welc8 their inter881 #nd willingnèss lo supp)rt the Soci8ty. For some time Kathryn Hay And I hAv8 beén wanting to Stèp down the committee. Kathryn h88 beon ¢ommlttae Secretary for some time aTKI since thg relirgment of Jenny Elltt has hosted tha perforners on concert day$ providing for their refreshment needs and managed inl8rv81 refreshments. She has al80 submitted concert delails to the locally di81ribuled magazines lor publication and worked with Katherine Boye¥ on putting togethèr gr8nl fvnding applications. Sh6 will be missed but deserve$ her well eamed rest. For my part I •pe Andrew Johnson will take ovar as ch8irm8n. I will give him all the Support I can and will continue to 888emble the progrommes from the notes provided by Mike Wheèler, but I feel Ihat I no longer have Ihe energy to provvje the leadership the Society neèds. 7. Conclusions On behalf of the Society I wish to put on record ow ttnkS to tl¥)8e wtK) have help8d in running th8 Society this19st Season. Several people have helped vth ¥aTiOUS tasks on the day of (x)ncerts widuding helping in the kitchen during the interval. Ashley and Austin Srntth have helped with setting out of chairs.
