The dub was originally established in 1982 and was established as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) on 17 December 2018. The club'8 objèctives are exdusively charitable includirvJ: to advance citizenship to promote the voluntary sector public benefi( to empower volunteers to serve their communities. th8 relief of poverty and to meet humanitarian need8, the advancement of health, to promote for the benefrt of the wblic the conseThation, wotection arKI improvement of the physical and natural environment, to promote community participation in heaAhy recreation. The Lions Club of Winslow raises funds each year to enable tt to wovlde granls to deserving causes within the Winslow and Buckingham area, nationally arKI overseas via the Lions Clubs Intemational Foundation. It also supports and puts on events to benefft and serve the local communty. Grants are made in accordance with the Club's Grant Making Poli. Since registration as a CIO, the Trustees have paid regard to the Chaiity Commission's guidance on public benefft in dealing with the objethves and activities of the dub. The club relies on the surpluses generated from fundraising events and, on occasions, donations from the public, to provide the fKIS which to cary out its otyec*ves. m8t from donation$ paid by its members. There has b8en no change to these policies during the reporting period. The work of the CIO is carried out entirely by volunteers. From time to time as appropriate, the Club works dosely with other local arKI national agencbes, other Lions Clubs and Lions Clubs Intemational to achieve its obJ'e(aNes. 4. Management and govornance arrangements Th8 club is govemed by its CIO document dated 17 December 2018 and by the Constttution and By-laws of Lions Club Intemational. The trustees are appointed as appropriate by the members ol the Club and have overall responsibilty to ensure the Club operates in aCrdance with Charrty law and the Club's CIO document. The day to day running of the club is overseen by the Club's Officers, elected each year by the members. All business of the club is ratified or othepbvise by members in general meets'ngs held once a month. The Club is ably supported by the volunteer services of ts members and others. 5. Fundraising and Communlty Sérvké a¢tfvllla• This Lionistic year finally saw the end of the imposrtions forced on us by the Covid °Lockdowns° and we gradually began to be able to cc#nmence both furKlraising arKI Social events once more. A significant amount of the surplus teing reported by ow Treasurer for 2021-22 could not be used for charrtable purposes as it related to early receipt of fund8 relating to the July 2022 North Bucks Bik8 Rid8 and are attributiV8 to the 2022 - 2023 knoni8tic year. We were, however, still able to Support various causes and local needs to the total of some £4,700, this year, which, while rt exceeded the available income. we were able to supplement by drawing on the limited reserves that we had judiciously retained. Once again, we have also benefrtted from being a registered charity, a1 recetving some very welcome input from Gfft Aid money from HMRC. The determination of the members of the Lions Club of Wlnslow. to follow the Lions Creed of. 'We Serve,. has bèan r8fl8Cted again in the amount of effort arKI personal generosty sh(AYn by our membern. Financial review and statement of financial aclivities for the year ended 30 June 2022. It is the policy of the Club to maintain unrestrÈded funds only to the exient that they ar8 expected to be required within the foreseeable future to meet the obiectiV8s of the Club. The adequacy of the reserves policy is reviewed periodically. The Trustees have considered the major risks to which the Club ts exposed to satisfy themselves that systems are in place to mitigate those risks.
- Recelpts and Payments Accounts for Lion8 Club of Wlnslow The CeIptS and payment account infomiation detailed on pages 8 & 9 rs taken from the Charity Commlssion pro-forma for receipts and payments accounts which provides the recommended fomat for the preparation of such accounts and therefo meets the requirements of the Charity Commission. The pro foma is designed to meet the minimum recommended levels of accountabilty. ReIPtS and payments accounts are statements that summarise the movement of cash into and out of the charity during the financial year. In this context'cash, indudes cash equivalents for example bank current and other cash accounts into vthich money is banked or used to make payments. It is generally accepted that receipts and payments accounts should not report all irrflNidual receipts and payments - these are recorded in the Club's cash book from which this summary information is drawn. These financial statements are prepared in GBP Sterfing, rounded to the nearest pound which is the functional currency of the Lions Club. Lions Club of Wn81ow meets the definition of a wljic entty under FRS102. The Trustees consider that there gre no material uncertainties al)out the Lions Club of Wnslow's ability to continu8 as a going concem. Receipt8 induding fundraising and donab'on5 are recognised wron there 18 entitknent and certainty of receipt and the amount can be assured 7th suffic•ent reliabilty. Fundraising income and members, contributions are recognised when they fall due. Payments are recognised when a Ikgbilty is incurred: Costs of fundraising events, hire of rooms, and ebSIte & publth are those incurred in running fundraising events and attracting donatr'ons. Donations made represent the donations arKI grants made in fvrthering the objectives of thè club. Due8 to Lions Intemational arKI District 1 OSA indude those payments associated with constitutional requirements. The charity current account Gomprises funds raised, and donations received which, nomially, have not been restricted by the donors or designated by Ihe Trustees for a particular use. The Trustees are entitled to allocate such unrestricted funds as they see frt tthvards the objects of the Club. The Sponsors of the July 2022 North Buths Bike Ride donated £2.LMXI.00 in 2021-22 with the proviso that the first £2,000.00 of any surplus raised by the event should be donated to Bucks MIND. Additionally, tsvo donors gave £180.00 stipulating that their funds should also be passed on to Bucks Mind. As the funds were held in the Club's Charity account at 30 June 2022, these items are reported in the accounts below as Restricted Funds as the Trustees were not eMiUed to allocate these funds. 230308 Annual Report
