The club operates on the basis that any administration expenses are borne by the members themselves, so that 100% of the amount raised from the public by fundraising (after deducting any fundraising expenses) is donated to the good causes we choose to support. To carry out a volunteering service in the local community for the benefit of those in need of all ages without fear or favour, and irrespective of race, religion, gender or sexual orientation. Club members carry out this service at no cost to the end user |

Tring Lions Club was originally formed in 1972 and became a Charitable Incorporated Organisation in December 2018. Throughout this accounting period the Club has had a membership of 13 individuals. Tring Lions Club CIO carried out several fundraising activities to raise funds from the public. In conjunction with several other Lions Clubs in the area, we operated a second-hand Bookshop in the Marlowe’s shopping centre in Hemel Hempstead. During this accounting year this was once again the main source of income. Income from the Bookshop was £13154 for this accounting period, compared with £11181 for the preceding year. |

Para 1.20 | During this accounting period the Club raised £3424 through fundraising, and another £13154 was raised through the Lions Bookshop from the sale of donated second-hand Books, DVDs CD’s and LP’s etc. Following the granting of CIO status in December 2018 Tring Lions Club CIO is now able to make a Gift Aid claim after the end of the tax year on membership subscriptions, and also on cash donations under the Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme (GASDS). The amount claimed relating to Gift Aid from H M Revenue & Customs this accounting period amounted to £718. Tring Lions Club CIO also made 36 separate donations during the accounting period to local, national, and international charities as well as to local good causes. The total amount donated this year came to £15392. Examples of our donations are: £1000 sponsorship of the Community Minibus £1000 to Lions Club International Foundation (Disaster Emergency Fund) £1000 to Berkhamsted & Tring Ukraine Hosting Network £1000 to Dacorum Emergency Night Shelter (DENS) £895 to Berkhamsted & Tring Stroke Support Group £800 to the Pepper Foundation £800 to 1st Tring Scouts / Cubs £500 to Tring Running Club We also did a lot of work with our local Schools during this accounting period providing grants for extra-curricular activities and projects. Also providing financial support towards the cost of School residential trips. Examples of our donations for schools this year are as follows; |
£1500 to Grove Road Primary School £900 to Dundale Primary School £600 to Bishopswood Primary School £600 to St Mary’s Primary School, Northchurch £500 to Brookmead School, Ivinghoe £500 to St Bartholomew’s School, Wigginton £500 to St Thomas More School, Berkhamsted The Club continues to bear the annual maintenance costs of a Defibrillator in Tring Town centre which we arranged to be installed. This amounted to £214 for the accounting period. We also collected 5616 pairs of spectacles from members of the public for re-cycling. This is done using collecting bins in local opticians. Members collect them regularly and these are then sent to another Lions Club for checking and shipping abroad to less developed Countries for use by the people there. 108 Used hearing aids were also collected by Club members for refurbishment and recycling. Finally, the members of the Club carried out 2969 hours of service to the local community during this accounting period, including volunteering at the Lions Bookshop and completing 92 separate Service Activities.

Para 1.22 | Tring lions Club CIO does not hold large reserves. At the end of the accounting period the amount of unrestricted funds held was £12177. In addition to this there was another £6326 of restricted funds of which £5000 was ring-fenced for Youth and School projects, another £1000 for our sponsorship of the local minibus providing community transport, and £326 for maintenance of the defibrillator installed by the Club in Tring High Street for the next 2 years. |
