The Ehlers.Danlos Society has held multiple evenls th both virtual and in-petson Ilendance Options lo ensure we Can reach as much of the public as possible. During this lime, we hève held the following ConfereeS1eVenis. In response to the 9lobal COVID pandemiG. The Ehlers-Oanlo> SoGiety hekl a Virtual uMMer Conference in both 2020 & 2021. For our 2022 Global Learning Conference. we were able to offer in-person attendance in addilion to a virlual option for the firsl lime in several years. The conference was held in Phoenix, Arizona gnd we war8 joined by 296 in-p•rson at18ndees as well As 958 virtual attendees from around the globo. with 28 01 the altendees being localed in the UK. In 2023 we were ablè to offer in-pefson attendan In addition 10 8 virtual option again lor our Global Leaming Conlerencè, which was In Dublin, Ire18nd. We were joined by 204 in-person attendees as well as 827 virtual attendees from around the globe, with 104 of Ihe alten¢Jees being located in the UK. Our ovenls have offered invaluable inswht5, thared experiences. and much-needed support lo this mix ol p81ienls, ¢3gIVe15, 8nd medical profe5$10nals. The Ehl8¥s-Danlos Society opeiales EDS ECHO, which is a serie5 of progr8ms and covrses for healthcare professionals across all disciplines who want lo improve their ability lo care lor people with Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes IEDSI, hypeTmobilily spectrum disorde IHSOI and associated symplom5 and conditions. Across our 12 EDS ECHO courses ran in 2022. 182 Continuing Education credits were available lo healthcare professionals. We also held i¥ virtual•only"ECHO Summif eveAls In 2023 as part of our ECHO program lor medical prOfesSn31$. These events had a lotal of 2,374 attendees with 134 of the attendees being localed In the UK. The Ehlers-Danlos Society has produced multiple We"nal5 presented by med1 professionals from around the globe, which include a Q&A portion lor attendees to pose questions on the specific topic being discussed. The Ehlers-Danlos Society continues to supp1 efforts with the Hypemiobile Ehler5-Danlos Genetic Evalualion IHEDGEI study, a study devoted lo finding the uThlerfwng genetic markers for hypermobile EDS {hEDSI. To date, 1.022 people are enrolled lo the study. of these enrdmenls, 143 are based in the UK. Analysis ol the sample data has begun. In 2022 The EMlers-Danlos Soeiety beg3n Wofk on a new Criteria Study. Vffih aims to enhance the understanding of hEDS and HSD by thoroughty reviewing and updating the 2017 diagnostic criteria, while sirnultaneously revwing and refining Ihe current definikn.ons lo contn.bule lo more accurate and comprehensive clinical assessments. The Criteria study is at the forefront of fostering inlemational collaboraiion wilhin the society's research landsca, engaging with a diverse nefvth of research sites lo cullivale a collatxJraliv8 environmeni for this multisrte study. The study has athieved critical milestones by obtaining Instilulional Review 8oard (IR81 approval at a third of the research srtes. showing our dedication to ensvring the welfare and rights ol our research participants. Advocacy, Awaren•$¥, •nd Support Our Helpline has been an invaluable resource lor individuals affected by EDS and HSD, providin9 vital information, support. an¢J gUance. Throughoui 2022 and 2023 oui Helpline answered over 1,000 calls 91obally, with 5-10% of those calls from our community in the UK. Over 6,000 Helpline emails were re¢eived nd ans%vered, wilh 10-15% of 8mails r¥spoi)diry to yLJ$$tions frtsiTI lh8 UK.
