The Club presents its fifth financial statements as a CIO for the year ended 31 December 2022. The decision was made to form a CIO primarily to take advantage of the separate legal personality and limited legal liability, particularly for trustees.

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document
To promote community participation in healthy recreation by the provision of facilities for non-competitive and competitive rowing, in particular Cornish Pilot Gigs, for the benefit of the public by the provision of facilities for fixed seat rowing.
Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects
Since formation and membership of the sport's governing body, the Cornish Pilot Gig Association (CPGA), in January 2016, The Club has grown substantially in membership each year until 2020-2021 when Covid-19 impacted on membership.
It is the primary goal of The Club to offer rowing activities to benefit physical and mental health as well as a strong and inclusive community atmosphere for its members. The Club's main activities have remained the same in the year to 31 December 2022 although these have been curtailed due to the impact of the pandemic in comparison to prior years.
The primary activities of The Club in the year to 31 December 2022, and the prior year, were:
• Running rowing sessions for the physical and mental health benefit of members of the club.
• Providing opportunities and training for members to compete in gig rowing
races.
• Providing development opportunities to members including training to become a competent cox.
• To grow the club membership and reach a wider section of the London community, to promote physical and mental health.
• Working with and improving partnerships with other rowing and water-based clubs.
- To promote the sport of gig rowing more generally.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
For the first time since 2019, we had a full season of regattas and events. One of the great things about gig rowing is the variety of events, races and adventures open to us, both in the UK and overseas.
Club policy is that all regattas, identified as appropriate opportunities by the Club’s Committee, are open to our whole membership.
Within this calendar, there were a number of club ‘priority’ CPGA regattas, roughly one a month over the spring and summer. For these, there was a concerted effort to have a large club presence, with scheduled training rows and logistics arranged by predetermined regatta leaders. For 2022, these events were:
Saturday 12[th] March: Three Rivers, Saltash, Cornwall.
Friday 29[th] April – Sunday 1[st] May: World Championships, Isles of Scilly, Cornwall Ladies 104[th] out of 115. Men 92[nd] out of 106
Saturday 4[th] June Regatta . We ran our own Regatta at Richmond which was a great success.
22[nd] August Brixham Regatta.
Saturday 3[rd] and Sunday 4[th] September: County Ladies Championships, Newquay, Cornwall
4[th] in 1[st] heat 3[rd] in second heat.
Saturday 17[th] and Sunday 18[th] September: County Mens Championships, Newquay, Cornwall. Came 4[th] and 3[rd] in their heat.
We also took part in a number of non CPGA events, adventures and regattas:
Saturday 26[th] March: Trainera Rowing at Langstone, Hampshire.
Sunday 3[rd] April: The Boat Race, London: We were invited to take part in a warm up event for the Oxford-Cambridge Boat race: It involved rowing one of our gigs along the iconic course from Putney to Chiswick Bridge. We did something similar in 2019.

Saturday 10[th] September: The Great River Race, London: The iconic river race which is a ‘must do’ event for any member of London Cornish! A mammoth row all the way from the Isle of Dogs, through central London and finishing at Ham House just upstream from our base at Richmond. An incredible experience rowing alongside a whole range of river craft from gig boats to skiffs and even dragon boats. More details here http://www.pla.co.uk/Events/Great-River-Race
Saturday 24[th] September: Jubilee Celebrations, London: The Thames Festival Trust organised the Reflections Flotilla, a Tribute by the river community marking the passing of Her Majesty the Queen and the accession of King Charles III. It was the first after-dark event of its kind through central London from Albert Bridge to Tower Bridge.
Sunday 23[rd] to Saturday 29[th] October: Bermuda Regatta: A very special event took part on the island paradise of Bermuda. Featured racing and socialising throughout the week, a truly unique experience.
Rhos- Sale
Rhos was the second boat purchased by the club in 2017. Rhos is another Ralph Bird built gig and was launched in 1989, making Rhos nearly 33 years old ! Rhos arrived at the club with an excellent racing pedigree with Roseland Gig Club, the club achieving 7 podium finishes in the ladies category and 10 in the mens’ since 1991 at the world champs.
Rhos is based at Richmond and currently sits out of the water awaiting some costly repair work. Working in the best interest of the club, the committee was of the view that Rhos should be sold. It is our intention to use these funds to purchase a GRP gig that will have less maintenance costs associated. We flagged this plan to the wider membership.
