| Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document |
To advance the education of children and young people in the subject of music by, in particular, but not exclusively, providing bursaries for instruments, workshops, performances and tuition. |
|
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public beneft in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public beneft) |
The Trustees of the charity have paid regard to the Charity Commission guidance on public beneft and ensured that the activities and outcomes associated with the charity have met this requirement. The principal criteria applied is that benefciaries demonstrate that without support from the charity that their personal, medical, social or fnancial circumstances would prevent them participating in, and developing ability, in music. Our partner organisations were able to deliver activities on our behalf. · BOSP expanded its Music Therapy sessions for children with severe impairments and their families to a weekly session which the charity has supported. This provides regular opportunity for the children to enjoy making music and also to enable a degree of respite care for the families. · Song School (formerly EVC) have continued with musical tuition and enabled 12 young people to receive tuition. In addition they have established regular holiday workshops for the children to attend and developed a number of creative projects which the charity has supported alongside other partners. This has seen students engage in songwriting, production and performance which has created major benefts to their emotional wellbeing. · The award of Ewan's Drum Scholarship was made to a young female student who demonstrated both talent and aptitude. |

Section D Achievements and performance
The restrictions imposed in England caused significant Summary of the main challenges for the charity which has taken time to re-establish a achievements of the number of its regular fundraising activities. As a consequence it charity during the year has relied heavily on individuals to continue supporting the charity in innovative ways to supplement its regular supporters. The continued regular donations from Ewan’s grandmothers Mrs V. Lane and Mrs. J Spittle plus those of Andrew Manton were augmented by funds raised from supporters through social occasions and designated donations e.g., BBQ’s, Xmas cards, snack sales. Song School continued its partnership by also raising funds through collections at performances once restrictions were lifted and through licensed 'busking' showcases in Southend. The charity was designated by the South East Essex Schools Music Association as a beneficiary of its annual concerts at the Cliffs Pavilion and a significant contribution was raised together with a good deal of associated publicity. The Mayor of Canvey Island held a Schools' Carol Concert which also designated Ewan's Music as its beneficiary and again generate both funds and public awareness.
