Achievements and Performance
| SORP reference | ||
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | Club was formed in 1938 and gained CIO status 14/11/2018. Hence, we have a long history of promoting rugby football in the Bridgend Area. As will become a theme of this report promotion of rugby football is a continual process as each season ends and new season quickly starts. Beneficiaries range from children aged from under 7 to men in their forties and beyond. Health, mental and social benefits. |
Additional information (optional) You may choose to include further statements where relevant about:
| Achievements against objectives set |
Para 1.41 | Ongoing, but we believe with the conclusion of each season another milestone has been achieved. We then just look forward to the new season and the process starts all over again. |
|---|---|---|
| Performance of fundraising activities against objectives set |
Para 1.41 | Fundraising achieved • Operating and running a Patron Scheme • Kit sponsorship for the U7s right through to the senior XVs • Operating and running of a 100 Club • Game and match day ball sponsorship • Fixture card and match day programme sponsorship |
| Investment performance against objectives |
Para 1.41 | During the period 1/6/20 to 31/5/21 no competitive games were allowed and only restrictive training sessions were allowed, from U6s through to the senior XVs. Such training sessions took place with limited numbers and significant restrictions, some of which were enforceable in law. This all because of operating during the constraints of the Covid 19 pandemic. Hence, it was not possible to meet our objectives. |

Financial Review
| Financial Review | ||
|---|---|---|
| Review of the charity’s financial position at the end of the period |
Para 1.21 | See accounts. You’ll note we remain solvent. Our primary objective is to provide rugby football in the Bridgend County Borough Area. Remaining solvent from one season to the next is our next objective, which we continually monitor. But with the collective skill sets of the present Committee we don’t envisage there ever being an issue with the Club remaining solvent |
| Statement explaining the policy for holding reserves stating why they are held |
Para 1.22 | We remain solvent. Our outgoings are largely met with our income (see above for main areas of income). If we need to raise more monies we mobilise our Committees to arrange and run more fundraising events. |
| Amount of reserves held | Para 1.22 | See accounts |
| Reasons for holding zero reserves |
Para 1.22 | N/A |
| Details of fund materially in deficit |
Para 1.24 | N/A |
| Explanation of any uncertainties about the charity continuing as a going concern |
Para 1.23 | None |
Additional information (optional) You may choose to include further statements where relevant about:
| The charity’s principal sources of funds (including any fundraising) |
Para 1.47 | • Grant from the Welsh Rugby Union • Operating and running a Patron Scheme • Kit sponsorship for the U7s right through to the senior XVs • Operating and running of a 100 Club • Game and match day ball sponsorship • Fixture card and match day programme sponsorship |
|---|---|---|
| Investment policy and objectives including any social investment policy adopted |
Para 1.46 | As already detailed above |
| A description of the principal risks facing the charity |
Para 1.46 | • By far our biggest challenge Covid-19. Though, with the input of our fantastic volunteers we continue to remain solvent and relevant. • In fairness our fears last year that WRU funding may have reduced as they dealt with the effects of Covid 19 was ill founded and they |
have continued to provide grant monies not far short of the monetary level the previous season. N/A Other

Additional information (optional) You may choose to include further statements where relevant about:

Para 1.51 | Trustees manage the Charity. During the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic we’ve formed an Executive Committee to deal with day to day running issues. The same Chair, Treasurer and Sec are appointed for both Committees. |
| Relationship with any related parties |
Para 1.51 | We use the facilities of Bridgend Cricket Club. Note the Club and all assets contained within are wholly owned by Bridgend Cricket Club. |
