Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main The main achievements and activities this financial year include achievements of the charity publishing the first volume of the Journal of Sound and Music in Games , during the year which is owned by the Society and published under contract with the University of California Press. The agreement with UCP will provide the Society with a royalty revenue stream (to be paid each year in arrears, starting 2021 for the 2020 volume) with which we will cover operating expenses and fund further activities in the future in line with our charitable goals. We have further developed our policies for good governance of the organisation and worked to coordinate two academic conferences (online due to Covid-19 restrictions). We began working to setup our bank account and to make use of appropriate accounting software, but progress was delayed due to Covid-related challenges. Section E Financial review Brief statement of the As part of our Financial Management Policy, we have agreed to establish charity’s policy on reserves a small reserve as soon as we begin to generate income. The Director, Mark Sweeney, has paid for the initial start-up costs to establish the Society as a charity and to setup and maintain the website. Details of any funds materially The Trustees have agreed to refund these costs as and when the Society in deficit is in a position to do so, but it is clear that it is effectively an unenforceable loan with no interest or expiry date.

You may choose to include additional information, where relevant about:

Our accounts show the addition of the annual maintenance costs for the website, which have been paid by Mark Sweeney. Next financial year we will begin to receive income from the journal, which can be used to start to clear this debt and fund our charitable activities. We will also have in place our banking setup so that going forward, these costs will be paid directly from the society account rather than being claimed back as expenses.
