Th8 contract sum agreed ot the oulsel of conslrucllon was Sn the sum of £8,117,942 plus related profes51onal fees. Durtng the course of construction addlllonal costs were Incurred and as a result th8 orlglnally agreed Fixed Land PayTnenl of £1,775.000.00 was reduced lo £1,548,334. The new bulldlng provkilng accKJmmodallcffl for 32 residents each In slngle rooms wlth en Bulte showorlwc 8rrangod over ground, first, second and Ihlrd floors. All floors are served by lifts. On each floor level there is a loung8ldining room lor communal use. In addilion Ihe Home provides a guest bedroom for the use of visiting resident family members or frlends, a halrdresslngllherapy salon and library. A fully equipped kitchen prowdes meals for all residents and residents. clothing is washad In a lully equlpped laundry. On 21st August the transfer of re81d8nts trom 82 Hurst Road to the new bulwing was very skilfully handled by the stsff who Greated a patty atmosphere and all seventeen residents were safety insta118d by lunchtirne on that day and were inlroduc8d lo their new surroundings The Home's gardening contractors hBve undertaken a consider8ble amount of wort( in prov￿Ing planlir)g of trees and shrubs surrounding the car parking area al th8 front of Ihg bullding wlh further landscaping of the rear gardens. The c6dar tree forms the major focus of the rear g8rden but is now supplemented with further planting Includln9 a subslanlal ollve tree together wlh 8 variety of shrubs, Ire8$ elc. Landscaping has also provided a paved palhwsy around part of th8 lawned rear garden. A work8hoplstor8 togeth&r with addllional storage sh&ds and a stsff smoking 'gazebo" have also b88n added. Rèvlaw of the Year As al 181 April 2024 there wer8 17 resldents In the Home. During the year we admitted 13 resld8nls for pemanenl slay and a further 3 iesidenls for v8rylng periods ol resplle care. No residents lefl Ihe Hom8 to live elsewhere. Six resldènls died during th8 year. As at 31 sl March 2025 we were carlng for 27 residents. The Home. In due course the inhabitants of the cage wlll be transferred lo a coop at the re8r of the Homes garden. Monlhty Newslatters have contlnued lo bg publlsh8d glvlng a colourlul plcture of Ilfe 81 the Homo, notable events and infomation on forthcomlng acllwlles. The Home's Summer Garden Party was held on 12th July when w8 wor8 honoured lo welcome the Mayor of Elmbridge. Counalbr Neill Houston together wth other friends of the Home as well as friends 8nd mambers of residen15' familles. The traditional "Stirring The Chrf8tmas Puddlw" ceremony was held on Thursday 28th November when we were tyelighled lo welcome as our Guest of Honour, General Sir Jeremy Mackenzie, a fomier Governor of the Roy81 Hospital Chelsea and a great 5UPPOrter of the Royal Cambridge Home over many years. Again we were lolned by residents, f￿endS and famity members. We are, as ever, mlndful of the work and commltment of our 8t8ff in making tha Home a happy and sacure place for our resldents. Our grateful thanks lo the Manager Rory Be￿eld and 811 the staff for their efforts under difficult circumstsnces in the old bulldings during the constructlon work In the earlier part of the year and In particular skill and care showrb lo the residents in tho move and settling in to the n8w premlses. John was an invaluable member of th8 b08rd of dlreclorsltrustees for 29 years and the Home benefited grealy from his loy81 swlce lo the Home.
