Horfey Lions Club has been a member of the International Association of Lion5 Clubs for more than 55 years. Then reviewing the CIO'S aims and objectives, and further when considering aspects associated with future acts'Vrt￿S, the trustees remain aware and have regard to the principals of 'PUbl￿ Benefif as defined in the Charrty Commission guidance papers. The trustees consider the acttvities and achievements of the CIO satisfy the public benefft requirements. Throughout the year the Club continued t0 5UPPOrt local paramediG5 through the provision of teddy bears which are donated to sick children who might be distressed or otheThwse when taken to hospital in an ambulance. The Club also promoted the Lions "Message in a Bott18° and 'Message in a schemes in the loGal area which is v*wed as a usèful tool assisting paramedics when they are called out on an emergen￿ to assist the sick and elderly. The Club's Wam ther Winter project was launched during the year, with the aim of providing assistance to those in fuel povèrty. Funding for the project came from a number of organisations including ReNJate and Banstead DC, local churGh organisations and others, including the CIO tself. Small donations were provided to Horfey families and individuals referred by Citizen's Advice, Reigate and Banstead Distn'ct CounGil and loc21 communty organisations These donations were made dired to the relevant Energy Company. The WOW project is managèd through a separate bank account.. Summary of the maln activitiés undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within th18 sectlon tha statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guldance issued by the Charlty Commission on publ1¢ benefit) A number of activrties run by the Club have the dual beneficial impact of providing entertainment for the public yet at the same time being run with the specffic intention of raising fvnds to meet the Twsts charitable aims and obj'edives. During the year, these activities induded.. Du8 to the ongoing COVID restrictions ￿ annual skittles toumament, usually held in early July, was postponed until September 2021. Despite the change of time of the year, this was a great success. During September 2021 the Club also ran its annual Dog Show. This induded a variety of ￿lgree and fun classes arKI various dog related stalls and activrties. The Club also sUc￿SfUl￿ organised rts annual Bonfire and Fireworks display, with 4.OCX) people in attendance. In December 2021, members of the Club escorted Father Christmas around the streets of Horfey. Members of the Club also completed street collections. Proceeds were donated to local youth organisab'ons and sick children. In March 2022. the Club organised a series of Easter Egg draws in local pubs. Desprte the ongoing COVID related lockdown these draws were a great success. All eggs were successfully drawn. leading to a significant financial gain for the dub. TAR March 2012

All income of the CIO is used to promote its aims arKI objectives. No part of the CIO Fund may be applied without the prior approval of the members of the Club. A total of £1,500 was donated to Re-Eng&Je (aka Contad the Elderly) towards the costs of setting up a new group in Hotley. In Ihe run up to Christmas more than 100 food parcels were distn'buted to local needy families. The total donation for these was around £2,834. Through the VVOW woject. more than 100 families were assisted with the costs of domestic fuel bills, with a totsl of £7.770 being donated.
