In 2022. it W8s decided that consideriThJ we had no income for the charity we could rK) longer justify the upkeep and cost of Ihe website The web&te was thefore parked (with all 10 films archived). Whilst we were in the proce&% of doing this, r( was decided that a showreel should be maje of the achievements to dale. This showreel was ¢ated ar)d shared between the trustees with the intention of gaining addttsonal press. 11 gave an outline of work undertaken between 2013 and 2023. The film was also shared in the hope that funds might be raised for further work on the sharing of the digitised James Backhouse scrapt)Jk. (Reminder in July 2021 Tony Lambert Great, Great, Great Grandson of James Backhouse was finally able to travel from Auckland to visit the UK. We were also able lo interview Tony for a second time and also lo reunite him with the sCrap1k which had been in safe keeping with Ihe Trust. The scraplxKJk had already been digilised by the British Library and also annolaled and preserved by a conservator working with the trust). Summary of tho main activities undertaken for the public benefrt in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaratlon thal trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commlsslon on publlc benellt) The plan al this stage had been that we would incorporate Tony's interview and tell the story of James Backhouse family and travels in more detail. Unfortunately al the point we were going lo be working closely on Ihese delails within the scrapbook and the film of Tony's inleNiew, there was a cyber attack on the British Library with 500.000 files stolen. This happ8ned October 28th 2023. Al the time this was not known lo be the case due to confidentiality issues within the British Library , however by the beginning of Spring 2024 it had been written about widely in the press. The consequences of this devastating cyber attack for us as a group was that all access to digital sources had been pulled offline. This disruption also prevented users from being able lo access items held in the Colti¢. Our project was once again halted. Fortunately we have a lot of our own archive to work with, as wé hav8 filmed and collected a great deal over the years so we hav8 been able to contsnue the study al a slow and steady pace. The plan lo work again with the British Library is ongoing once they have had full recovery. In the meantime possible other avenues are being IcK)ked into such as w)dcasls, as a way to share our archive. Additional dotsils of objectives and activities (Optional infomiationl TAR
