FUTURE PLANS
What's the prognosis for farming and the need for farm support like ours?
Sadly,allofthechallengesfacingfarmersthatwecommentedonthistimelastyearremain.Itis worth
re-listing them:
-
Brexit - where the long term impact on farming is still as uncertain as last year
-
Changes to the main UK farm grants scheme as provided by government - where the final shape of the
-
new scheme has still not been determined
-
Continuing pressures of inspections and regulation.
-
The introduction of NVZs leading to increased cost and uncertainty.
-
Additional environmental pressures.
-
Ongoing Bovine TB.
-
Extreme isolation.
-
Covid - although restrictions are now being lifted.
We can now also add the potential effects, short and long term of a war in Ukraine.
Thepressuresonfarmingasanindustryandallindividualfarmersandfarmingfamilieswithin it
continues to increase and, as a result, more will find it difficult to cope.
LastyearweexpressedourhopethatwewouldbeinapositiontocompleteourcoverageofWales by
