Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document
The objects of the CIO are advance art, culture and heritage for the public benefit, in particular, but not exclusively, by holding an annual literature festival in Llandeilo, and other minor literary events in Llandeilo and surrounding areas within Carmarthenshire. to promote Welsh and local authors, Welsh and English language poetry and writing, literature in all its shapes and forms.
The festival was held in a hybrid version – Half of the 22 events were streamed live, but all were held live also. Over £3000 was obtained from the generosity of Local Businesses, Literature Wales and Llandeilo Town Council. Ticket sales reached £1800. We saved considerably by reducing costs in the online version, doing the filming ourselves. We had generous sponsorship for accommodation and food for our authors, so expenses and author fees were uncharacteristic low
Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)
The sessions were busier than during our peak festival in 2019. Having less sessions and more breaks helped, using Hengwrt as one venue worked well, introducing the venue to town and allowing people time to explore the town during the breaks all worked well. Trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit
The feedback forms gave us improved marks on the running and the content of the festival.
