HORSE CARE & ANIMAL CARE AT HAWTHORN FARM
Alpha Training Learn & work was founded as a charity in 2019. Since then we have been implementing significant changes to our facilities and have provided adults with the knowledge and qualifications for new career pathways.
Our facilities now include an indoor education centre, equipped with animal sanctuary, classroom, kitchen and toilet facilities. The lodge has three, large, multi-functional rooms, which are used mainly for educational purposes as well as a rest
We have provided homes to more animals in need such as a miniature Shetland pony, a Welsh section A pony, stray cats, a pig, two ferrets and ducks.
Throughout the year we have been making conservation a priority and have been looking into more ways to protect our wildlife through clearing overgrown areas and creating new homes for animals and birds in our woodland.
HAIRDRESSING AT ALPHA HAIR DESIGN
Alpha Learn & Work Charity was able to fund the enrolment for adults who had previously been out of employment. Not only were they able to develop and learn new skills but are now well on their way to completing a City & Guilds NVQ Level 2 course in Hairdressing.
Once the course is completed, these students may be eligible to continue on a Level 3 course at Alpha Training or may go on to apprenticeships or employment.
The adults completing this course, have the necessary experience of training in a working salon with paying clients. This enables students to improve and enhance in social and personal communication, whilst building and increasing confidence.
Teachers work hard to ensure that students develop skillsets that will enable them to thrive and succeed in the workplace.
A new fully functioning training salon has been built, complete with wash basins, work stations, kitchen and toilet facilities.
