Summary ofthe main Para 1.20 1.Outdoor Classroom {Lot2)
achievements ofthe charity,
identifying the difference the The area continued to be used by the
charity's work has made to school children,
although
less frequently,
the circumstances ofits with Covid rules making
it more difficult
beneficiaries
and
any wider to do so and also large scale changes at
benefits to society as a the school itself. We feel that maintaining
whole. and providing
this facility will continue to
help the children to appreciate the spaces
around them and therefore be less prone
to vandalism
ofsuch areas in future life.
Volunteers
have continued to keep the
area maintained
for use throughout
the
year even with the restrictions
in place.
2.Canoe Platform Replacement
Funded
by aSection 106Green Spaces
Fund applied for by Scole Parish Council.
The money was secured to install a
replacement
canoe platform
which was
started
in the new year, February 2022,
and completed
by the middle of INarch
2022.This now provides asafer access
for canoeists to enjoy the river and the
surrounding
countryside,
flora, and fauna
whilst rowing along the river. This social
type ofexercise helps improve both

physical and mental health.
3.Second Memorial Bench (Pocket Park
riverside)
The memorial
bench, funded
by a local
family, has now been instalied alongside
the wild flower meadow and facing the
river. This provides awonderful
view of
the river and wild flower meadow for
contemplation
and reflection, by
providing
somewhere
for the public tosit
and rest a while, and as a result improve
their mental well-being.
4.River Fly Surveys and Oxygen Level
Surveys
We have undertaken
surveys for two
years now, on a monthly
basis, ofriver fly
populations
in our stretch ofthe River
Waveney. The results are submitted
toa
countrywide
database and used to
monitor river health throughout
the
country
in conjunction
with the
Environment
Agency.
In addition to the River Fly Surveys our
continued
Oxygen Level Surveys are
ongoing
in collaboration
with the EA.We
carry out a reading once aweek at three
points along our stretch ofthe River
Waveney, this has already proved its
worth
in helping to identify 2or3possible
pollution
incidents on the river in the time
the monitoring
has been in place.
This makes sure that any river pollution is
caught at an early stage and dealt with
immediately
in order to maintain
a healthy
biodiversity
within the river and
surrounding
areas. Indirectly the health
of
the river and its countryside
provides a
wonderful
place for people to walk and
view the flora and fauna that surrounds
them.
5.Public Areas and Nature Pathways
Another continuous
task ofcoordination
Another continuous
task ofcoordination
ofvolunteers
for clearing and maintaining
the public areas and pathways
around
and through
the village, providing
circular
and cross routes throughout
the area.
This is achieved
by means of; weekly
litter picking, grass cutting, hedge
management,
pathways
maintenance,
etc.
Again afair amount oftree clearance was
carried out throughout
the year due to
storm damage and ongoing safety
maintenance.
The result ofthis is
promoting
a healthy
lifestyle by means
of
unhindered
walking
and providing
a clean
and safe place to come and relax and
enjoy the countryside.
New fruit trees, donated tothe SNTT by
Norfolk County Council and public
donations,
were planted
in the Pocket
Park to replace deadldamaged
trees.
These will help to provide an insect
friendly environment
to further support
the wild flower meadow and biodiversity
in the park.
6.Car Park Fencing Improvements
(Pocket Park Suffolk Car Park)
Existing wooden fencing had degraded
over the years and was in need ofan
update. This was achieved
by use of
offcuts ofthe recycled plastic posts used
in the construction
ofother projects.
These also provide a deterrent for
vandalism
at the Pocket Park grounds
by
boy racers in their cars.
7.Pollution
Events (Pocket Park Norfolk
Car Park)
Anumber ofevents arose in the village
which were managed
on behalf ofthe
village by the SNTT volunteers,
liaising
and supporting
the service supplier,
Anglian
Water, and also the Environment
Agency to ensure the pollution
did not
affect the river and surrounding
areas.
The early intervention
ofthe SNTT
reduced the chance ofan even more
