The Blockley and District Allotments
Association was registered as a
charitable trust on 11June 2018and received a donation off40000 from
the Parham
Park Trust to move off land occupied under an informal
rental arrangement
for more than 100years to an adjoining
piece ofland.
The new site will be leased from Parham
Park Trust under a999-year
lease agreement.
The main achievements
for the current review period are as follows:
1. Preparing
the new allotment
site for use; marking
out plots/paths
and preparing access.
2. Allocating
plots to 50members,
following a consultation
period,
including
12new families, who were allocated plots for the first
time when the new site opened.
3. Successful management
ofvacant plots, which cannot be re-let
under the Terms ofAgreement
to lease with the landowners
Parham
Park Trust.
4. Successful fundraising
mainly through
grant applications
and
donations
for produce towards the cost ofcreating a Community
Cabin on site. This will benefit both allotment
gardeners
but also
the wider community,
who will be able toaccess the site in new
ways.
5. Promotion
ofthe benefits ofallotment
gardening
via articles
in the
local community
magazine a new website and social media
presence.
Unfortunately,
other activities on site had to be
cancelled due to COVID-19.
6. Successful sales ofsurplus
produce at an honesty stand at the
allotments
entrance. This generates
funds and provides the
community
with good quality,
local vegetables,
fruit and flowers
fora modest donation.
