Attock Cricket Club Charity is a vibrant, community-centred
organisation situated in one of Birmingham's most
socioeconomically disadvantaged wards. Beyond being a cricket
club, we are deeply committed to promoting positive change
within our local area through our multifaceted approach to
community engagement and sustainability. Our overarching
mission is to create an inclusive and socially responsible
community space and pathway through the medium of cricket
and related initiatives. Our primary goals encompass:
1.
Cricket Excellence: We offer comprehensive coaching
programmes catering to individuals of all ages and skill
levels, fostering cricket talent and promoting teamwork,
discipline, and sportsmanship among our members.

2. Community Engagement: Active collaboration with local schools, charities, and community organisations lies at the heart of our endeavours. We host tournaments, festivals, events and initiatives aimed at addressing societal issues such as health and social cohesion.

3. Charitable Work: Over the past year, we have:

facing financial challenges, ensuring that cost is never a barrier to participation.

Our Work:

1. Cricket Development: Our coaching programmes and participation in local and regional cricket leagues provide opportunities for individuals to hone their cricketing skills and enjoy the sport. We focus on nurturing talent and instilling important life values.

2. Community Outreach: Collaboration with the community is pivotal. We organise tournaments, festivals, events to create a sense of belonging and empowerment among our community members.

3. Youth Empowerment: We believe in empowering the youth through skill-building, leadership development, and educational support. Investing in the younger generation is essential for building a brighter future. Through our efforts, we aim to make a significant difference in the lives of our members, contribute for betterment of Birmingham.

Achievements and Performance

SORP reference
Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.
Para 1.20 In collaboration with a much larger
charity, the club charity volunteered to
raise £2000 to support an initiative to
send surgeons to GAZA to provide
medical support to injured children as a
consequence of the war. This is a non-
political initiate and one that is purely
addressing a humanitarian cause. We
used our social media channels to reach
out to our friends and families as well as
a cricket event to raise the target sum.
Within two weeks of our promotion, we
were able to reach our target.

Achievements against
objectives set

Para 1.41

As well as our charitable aim to be more
than a cricket club, our main business is
cricket. All our teams both junior and
senior play competitive cricket and we
are delighted that on all fronts the teams
performed well. Our particular success
was with our first team squad who had
set their heart of achieving champion
status of their premier division and then
seek promotion to the highest premier
level cricket at the amateur level.
Performance of fundraising
activities against objectives
set
Para 1.41 Our target was to raise funds in the
region of £2K to support a good cause.
We achieved that.
Investment performance
against objectives
Para 1.41 We do not have funds or capital to
venture into this area.

Financial Review

Financial Review
Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period
Para 1.21 Market competition has resulted in
slight shortfall in membership numbers.
A similar club but with financial might
has decided to offer free membership
and as a result many young people have
moved across to this club. This
migration has resulted in nearly £4000
shortfall in funds. Additionally, our
second facility where club’s 3rd and 4th XI
play had to be upgraded and that
resulted in £3000 extra expenditure.
Both of these events have had big
impact on our finances. The club had to
dive into small reserves to ensure it
could stay afloat and honour any
financial commitments with regard to
operational business.
Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held
Para 1.22 We have very small reserves or they
could be referred to as contingency
funds for a rainy day. For instance,
some of the club’s machines for cricket
purposes are old and can require
replacement anytime. The reserves
would have to be used to either get
these repaired or replaced. Our current
reserves are very small.
Amount of reserves held Para 1.22 £770.00
Reasons for holding zero
reserves
Para 1.22 NA
Details of fund materially in
deficit
Para 1.24 None
Explanation of any
uncertainties about the
charity continuing as a going
concern
Para 1.23 Continued constraints on finances and
our ability to attract grants as well as
unfair market competition. However we
have plans in place to continue our work
by engaging our stakeholders,
sponsors, seeking vigorously and
researching grants for our work with
young people and particularly projects
such girls’ cricket to be more inclusive.
