| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | Alongside our normal advertising streams such as our Facebook page and notice boards, a regular advert in the local free paper from June helped raise awareness of the Community Centre. Enquiries for booking the Hall, either for regular classes or private functions, were forthcoming, albeit not all resulted in an actual hire. But from word of mouth we know that awareness of the Centre has increased in the local area. During the year we enjoyed 22 private hires, slightly down on the previous year but with a wider range from children’s parties to family gatherings. Maintaining a programme of weekly/ monthly activities still continues to be hard. The year saw a mix of activities that are now well established with our Ladies Group, Yoga, Junior Badminton classes and our monthly Coffee morning continuing to be popular. Our IT classes re- commenced in November, having been paused for some months due to the Tutor’s illness. A number of new activities ran, but only for a few months each due to problems in getting regular attendees. These included Sewing classes for both adults and juniors, an Exercise class, a Primary School Tutor Class and a Children’s Musical Theatre class which started in October. Only 4 Events were hosted by the Trustees throughout the year, some being well attended and introducing many members of the community to the Hall and its facilities. |
The Trustees continue to work hard to reestablish and increase our programme of events and activities for all ages. This is proving popular with families, many of whom had only recently moved to School Aycliffe and has helped integrate the various parts of the community, encouraging residents to make new friends and the more cautious to venture out again.
